Last I checked, very few bills are paid because a charity was formed. They are paid because the charity receives acutal money. And when you are asking other people to give their money to your charity, it is bad PR for you to piss a million away at the table and not give any of it to the charity that bears your name. If you can't see this as an obvious problem, then we'll just disagree.

What caught my eye was your "YOU place a high value on money" thing like you were all man of the people like and anyone who thought it was a poor use of money is some Scrooge McDuck shallow pursuer of gold. :biggrin: Leno can give his cars to his kids, and he can give them to charity, whenever he decides to. I bet most of the cars had appreciated prior to the economic problems...and I bet they did not decrease in value by 50%. That is just another form of investment vehicle (I kill myself :lol:)

In honor of Gator I propose that we shut down Vegas and put everyone and everything there out of a job, and give judges the power to seize private money and channel them to charities.

Are you really that fucking stupid? So, just because someone makes a shit-load of money makes it OK to throw it all away for nothing? Very few people have the God-given talent he has/had, and this goofus-fuck throws it all away because he can't stay off the bottle or stay away from the casino. All that work, practice, tournament-success, means nothing now because he doesn't have the basic-level common sense to not gamble away his entire tournament purse.

Even if "he's loyal to friends and loves his family" like I said as an instance, it doesn't negate the inter-stellar stupidity of his losing all the money he earned. There's a huge difference between "blowing some money" and losing your entire tournament earnings of over a million dollars. Money may not be the end-all (in that regard I agree with you), but throwing away your entire tournamnent earnings of over a million dollars--in essense never even really seeing it--is fucking moronic. That's a big house, his kids' education at any college in the world, and enough money to live off of for years, all gone solely because he wanted to gamble.

My problem is that it is likely he does not even remember losing it. If he was sober gambling, he might have enjoyed a nice thrill betting it, but by his own admission he is usually hammered and often does not remember the things he did drunk. About 70 percent of former NBA players are broke. While it is their money too, it is a damn shame that ignorance and stupidity let a very small set of very talented people earn an enormous amount of money and wind up stiffing their creditors and child support enforcement and their families, when they could have lived comfortable lives with enough spare assets to help their community.

I chose a career that is essentially gambling what a jury thinks, rather than getting a steady paycheck, so I am not risk averse. I'm just stupid averse, and like you said, pissing the whole Million away in one night it idiotic.

Do you know how many former beauty queen hookers, how much blow, 23 years old scotch and how many 50 yard line season football passes you could buy for one million dollars?????? Neither do I. :paranoid:
