This dude doesn't even have a thread here, yet he's referenced often. Here's why: this bum should've been fired a decade earlier.
This was my absolute lowest point as a Buckeye fan. Although this past November is close.

Earle Bruce did nothing at Iowa State.
Failed at tOSU
Failed at Colorado State.
Since Wes Fesler actually won a Rose Bowl, Earle Bruce is the worst coach in tOSU history (Not including Luke Fickell) since Paul Bixler (1946)
Didn’t he coach arena league too or am I dreaming?Earle Bruce did nothing at Iowa State.

USC won that Rose Bowl 17-16, and nobody tried a 2-pointer. Charles White running behind Anthony Munoz on a long drive gave USC that win over Earle’s 11-0 team.He went 5-4 vs tsun. That isn't the worst ever.
Using some of the same kind of stuff people were defending Day with pre CFP 2024:
-Earle had the highest active win % of any coach in the B1G when he was fired (including Bo)
-The aforementioned 5-4 in The Game
-He was a 2pt conversion away from being an undefeated NC his first year.
We all knew Earle needed to go, the 3 rando losses a year were maddening and by the end, the talent in the trenches was at a second rate, regional power level.
That said, much like Day, he was a hell of a lot more likeable than the reverse carpetbagger and he had a winning record in The Game...against Bo Schembechler.
Cooper vs Earle isn't really a debate. It's picking out the smartest Hilton sister but I, personally, liked Earle one hell of a lot more and will always thank him for the 1985 Iowa game, the 1986 Cotton Bowl and The Game 1987. He was a Buckeye. He got it.

The 1975 Rose Bowl cost Woody a natty when Shelton Diggs caught a 2-point conversion in the final 2 minute, just a few yards away from me.
I was 9 and living in New York. My dad had just taken a job in Ohio. I Didn't know what I was watching, really. I just remember knowing that I was moving to Ohio and USC could eat a bag of dicks.I was 8 so I guess I am misremembering but it seemed like there was a goal line play.

Bitch up and choose positivitywait, wasn't this the one that the great All American TE scored the game winning TD for us?
I am so confused by my memories of the 70's
