John Calipari (official thread of impending probation)

Ask him how easy it was to beat us when we smacked the fuck out of Memphis' unworthy ass.

Sounds like a bunch of whiny little pussies. I wish we were in their bracket too.

Fuck Calipari.

I actually took it as him being selfish and wanting revenge for that ass whooping we put on his Memphis team. I think it's a compliment, but he's still an ass.

[quote;]Kentucky's John Calipari is the sleaziest coach in a sleazy game. - By Charles P. Pierce - Slate Magazine[/quote]

This piece of information was news to me.

In 2005, long before the questions arose over who exactly took Derrick Rose's SAT, there was a break-in at the apartment where several members of the Memphis team lived. According to police reports, the items stolen included $3,600 in fake fur coats, $6,000 worth of shoes, and however many throwback jerseys $2,150 will buy you. It is possible that the players in question amassed this bounty on only what they received for books, tuition, room and board, and fees, or out of the largesse of their respective grandmothers. It is also possible that Maggie Gyllenhaal waits for me around the next corner. Then came that great season that doesn't exist any more, and the scandal, and Calipari was off to Kentucky while Memphis took the NCAA sanctions right in the face.

What I don't understand is why a guy writing a piece that trashes Calipari doesn't even mention the fact that Tyreke Evans was at the wheel of the car used in a drive-by shooting in 2007 that killed a 19-year old. Evans admitted to driving the car, but said he didn't know his passenger had a gun. (But what would you say to the cops if you did know?) Evans was not charged criminally, but is now facing a civil lawsuit.

I'm originally from Ky, hence the name, and all my friends back home get so fired up if you mention anything negative about CalPal. It's almost as if as long as he's winning they could care less about his past. I tell them that I have to get one of those new snazzy UK2K (2000 win shirts) before it has an * by it :)

Probably the same people who were trashing him when he was at Memphis. :roll1:

Kentucky says Patrick Patterson is leaving for the NBA; his mom disagrees - Campus Rivalry: College Football & Basketball News, Recruiting, Game Picks, and More - USATODAY.com

Tywanna Patterson said she believed coach John Calipari issued the release as a way to help with recruiting.
"Me personally, I think it is Cal's way to get recruits to commit and wants to make sure they know John (Wall), DeMarcus (Cousins), Daniel (Orton) and Eric (Bledsoe) are gone along with Patrick," Tywanna Patterson said. "Pat didn't know they were sending that statement out tonight."

This is an interesting read.

So Terrence Jones, recruited by UK and Washington, reveals his choice on TV and chooses Washington. What should be the best moment in the young man's life is then interrupted immediately after as Calipari calls him and they have a 15 minute conversation. And apparently Cal is laying on a huge guilt trip:

Kentucky coach John Calipari called Jones after his announcement and Jones was on the phone for a very long time. About 15 minutes. Reading body language, Jones seemed pained.

He told me, "You hurt thousands of people just as much as you make people happy."

What a class act!
