John Calipari (official thread of impending probation)

Keep beating that one dead horse. Cal doesn't mind; he'll continue to draw his millions, go to the Dance and put guys into the League.

Calipari is a terrific coach who is also ethically challenged. The latter doesn't change the former. Had Thad Matta never been born, I'd love to have John Calipari as coach of the Buckeyes.

Right. We need the LOIC penalty and a few more vacated wins to boast about.

A lot of those hanging in Memphis, now or ever? How's that program doing now?
So you're equating Memphis with Ohio State as a program? I think not.

Look, my point is simply that Calipari is an excellent coach, ethics aside. I don't believe Kentucky will have to vacate their championship, and he's bringing that school back to a level of achievement that they haven't had since Ricky P. Understood that the Accepted BP Point of View is that Calipari is both Satan and a mediocre bench coach. I won't argue the former one way or the other, but the latter is just idiocy.

There is no ethics aside, he has proven that over and over again.

So if he gets away with cheating for the first time ever, while already triggering a separate investigation since that team of free agents moved on, it somehow disproves the hellfire he brings with him at every stop?

Hyperbolic drivel and painting thousands with a broad brush, all to protect your quest to ALWAYS be opposite.

I think Calipari is a terrific coach, but you don't get one part without the other. You get the whole package.

No, you tried to pretend the rest didn't matter because you don't care about it.

Somebody wake me when Winslow has something better to do than argue with me about something I said that bunched up his briefs.

...then they're vacated. No thanks.
Quiet down aliases of mine. This is merely my disagreement, not Max actively seeking out conflict via unpopular opinions for the 4712th time.

and clearly ethically challenged recruiters & repeat offenders like Calipari... when combined with probation stricken programs like OSU... are the epitome of "minutiae"

Most of us do not equate tOSU with Memphis. While Memphis may have been happy to trade the Basketball success they had under Calipari for the resulting penalties, we have a higher standard for the programs.

I would be curious to know how the BIG conference office would react to a BIG school hiring Calipari. Would the AD get a call from Delaney asking him WTH he is doing? I'm sure the league wouldn't be happy about that kind of hire since it would quite likely lead to a black mark against the conference. Kelvin Sampson was bad enough, and he had only gone rogue at one school before Indiana.
