John Beilein (Former HC Cleveland Cavaliers)

a) its jay bilas
b) bilas and tommy a are good buddies
c) would bilas step out on a limb on something like that
d) time will tell on beilein

this is a lot to do about not much. its a couple of quotes, without the context and humor/sarcasm and what not involved its hard to take this with much seriousness...

What people? Certainly not the coaches that Beilein's coached against. Don't take it from me, take it from UCLA's coach Ben Howland: "That's the best 4-8 team in the country," Bruins coach Ben Howland said of Michigan. "They are going to be very good, especially in this building."

Hey, if you're happy with 4-8 and being the best at it, enjoy....

Good god, what do you expect out of a team with eight players on scholarship and four underclassmen in the starting lineup that's played 6 ranked teams in 15 games? Our schedule is a combined 137-62 so far. Beilein has done some cleaning house that Amaker wouldn't have done (Jerret Smith) and other guys have left the team to be closer to their family (K'Len Morris.) And the top four players in last year's rotation were seniors.

Six of 12 if you don't count Harvard, Central Michigan or Western Kentucky(combined record 22-23). Incidentally, the best 4-8 team in the country is still a really bad basketball team. Kudos to Howland for finding a way to put it nicely.

news flash, the big east isnt the big 10, in the big east you dont have 18 conference games against 11 opponents, plus the possibility of seeing teams again in the b10 tournament, you dont have what six NATIONAL COACHES OF THE YEAR

Anyone that knows hoops would say the Big East is a better conference no questions asked

Beilen's offense could be considered gimmicky but he got WVU within an eyelash of the Final Four. Nolan Richardson's gimmicky pressure defense won a national title and took him to the final four a couple times.

Better than losing to Harvard. That's what I'd expect.

Michigan is just one of many, many awful teams in the Big Ten this year.

no. but, its a different basket of eggs when you play 10 teams over 18 games and throw in a tournament that everyone is involved in vs. 16 teams over 18 games (arent they an 18 game conference) plus have a smaller tournament. the point is the uniqueness and the system although important are not as important when you play 2-3 times a year, you have coaches who have seen the systems and sets that many times, plus double scouting overlap, in game coaching comes more into play. the group of b10 coaches matches up with anyone group in the country.

which conference is better is a match that i am not going to get into.
a) i havent seen that much big east basketball
b) i dont know how you compare them: ranked teams, final fours, ncs, sweet 16s, elite 8s?
c) i dont really care who is better its irrelevant to me
d) if i did care how do you compare 11 teams vs 16 teams?

re read the whole thing...
i didnt say much about competition, more so about number of teams, schedules and coaches

John has a career in comedy waiting for him when he is finished coaching.

U-M's Beilein jokes about parents, alumni at clinic

While there, the longtime coach, entering his second season at U-M, said he has "finally come to a place that I love. I have said that there are only two places I would rather coach at. One is an orphanage, because I wouldn't have their parents bothering me. And second, a prison, because I wouldn't have to worry about the alumni coming back."

"I was really impressed with Ohio today," said Beilein, using a name frequently used by Michigan football coach Brady Hoke that grates Ohio State fans. "Their defense was really suffocating at times."

Fixed what is the actual disease, media claiming it "grates" us. I could care less that he calls us Ohio. It puts the Athens University down as if they don't exist, not us.

This would be hilarious. almost on par with the kid from NC State the other night when asked how losing to your rival feels.

He answered to the reporter "Has your wife ever cheated on you?" to wich there was an awkward silence.
