Joe Flacco (Baltimore Ravens)

While upon opening this thread I realized I should have grabbed my hip waders to avoid all the shit that is now stuck to my eyes from reading it.

I like the swap meet quarterback theory myself.Troy was an incredible buckeye, but that is college football.Teams don't hold world beaters on the bench to prove points or piss buckeye fans off like some of you guys actually seem to act. They have who they have on the field to win. That's just how it is. Saying Troy would have done just as well as Flacco is just saying...

Outlandish to think that on an Ohio State board, many believe that one of, if not the greatest tOSU QBs ever could do as well as a D1AA qb with "meh" stats. HOGWASH! How dare he. Lucky you were there to beat that theory down with "Of course". How can one argue in the face of such overwhelming statistical evidence? They can't. Hat's off to you sir, and your mighty "Of course".

Dude, do you even watch the games, or do you just blindly assume that because Flacco "led" his team to the playoffs, he must be a great quarterback?

Here's how Flacco ranked out of starting QBs in the regular season:

Passer Rating: 22nd
Passing Yards: 20th
Completion Percentage: 20th
TDs: 20th

I see a QB who put up below-average stats in all of the major passing categories. That leads me to believe that he rode the coattails of the Ravens' D to the playoffs rather than led them there. And it also leads me to believe that there are a lot of other QBs in the NFL (roughly 20 or so, at least, given the stats) that could have done what Flacco did this year. Is Troy one of them? Maybe, maybe not. But please stop with the posts in which you act like Flacco is Hall of Fame material. As said before, the stats bear out that he is nothing more than a below-average starting QB in the NFL.

Do you watch the games?

If you did, you'd realize that he has talent and throws a good ball. You'd also have realized that there was a huge difference between first half Joe Flacco and second half Joe Flacco.

Nobody is saying he's a great QB. What's being said is that he's the starter, and some of us think he's earned it. Find the posts where people are hailing Flacco as HOF material. This is the kind of hyperbole that I have a problem with, when it's either completely trashing someone without actually knowing what you're talking about, or making it sound like an argument that is not even remotely being made is being made.

Look, I don't think Joe sucks. I do think Troy, given the same chance, would have produced the same, if not better. That's not an option now, as they won't revert back to a fifth rounder over a first. My big wish now is that Troy ends up somewher else, goes to a couple pro bowls, and Fucco ends up bagging groceries or whatever the fuck unibrows do in decent societey.

Well fwiw..I don't care about Flacco. I just think he deserves more respect then he gets...Troy is what he is..and I totally agree on him ending up elsewhere and doing something fantastic..No disagreement there at all

My point was just that the Ravens won this year in spite of Flacco, not because of him. That is all. He was far from stellar, and threw zero game winning passes. At this point, I'm not buying.

Few rookie QBs are the reason a team gets to the conference championship game. It's unfair to judge a QB based on his first year, especially when he really didn't do that bad and the team got to the conference championship.

Were they winning in spite of him, or were they just winning? Looked to me like they were just winning.

Winning in spite of him. I do realize that when Troy got sick, Flacco got the job and once the team started winning, it would be foolish to switch qb's.
