Jimmy Clausen (Baltimore Ravens)

I heard Jimmy won the 2007 heisman already. How can someone be that fucking good. And only as a freshmen.

Charlie Weiss is God. Brady Quinn came close, but Jimmy is Jesus redux.

I just watched most of "Apocalypse Now Redux" two days ago.

I love the smell of napalm in South Bend. :tongue2:

The media has a darling. They will promote a darling to the hilt. Everyone will get all excited and have large expectations, then when he doesnt make good (see Ron Paulus,ND 1995-96) it's a shame. Not that they helped by filling the kid's head so full he couldn't possibly reach those goals.
Look at Zwick. he was purported to be the second coming out of high school. Now we actually feel sorry for him but he got a lot out of the experience. Were the expectations from the media too high? Apparently.
Then there is the 1 out 100 that do actually do the job. In that case the media gets so full of itself the public pukes.
No matter how good Clausen is he has some hard lessons to learn.

Clausen in Cali State Championship

The only real pregame noise came from Clausen, who ran to midfield and pointed and shouted at the Cardinal Newman kids before the opening kickoff.

The kid has a swagger. The kid also has a quick trigger, throwing a bullet 17-yard pass to Marshall Jones for a touchdown on the game's first possession.

But the kid also is impatient. Cardinal Newman dropped eight guys off the line of scrimmage, and forced him to find an opening, and he couldn't.

And the kid has a temper, as we saw when he scolded receivers for not catching some of his high-and-wide passes.

And, of course, as everyone should expect, the kid can be human; he finished the game with only 11 completions in 22 attempts, with three interceptions ? equaling his season total ? and just one touchdown.

Not to veer too far of topic, but I don't think JZ was put in optimal position to be successful. When he was elevated to starting QB in '04, we had a swiss cheese OL, zero running game and playcalling that left a lot to be desired. That 2004 squad was decimated by graduation. Unfortunately for Justin, The team started to hit it's stride just as Troy was beginning to show flashes of the player he would become. I think his struggles in early '04 did some damage to his confidence, which can ge devistating for a young QB at a major, high visibility program. Given the right situation, and sourrounded by the right personnel, I think Zwick may have lived up to all that promise. Now here's the Claussen tie-in. The situation he's stepping into at Notre _ame looks a lot like the Buckeyes circa 2004. We'll see if Charlie can resist throwing all that promise to the lions.
