Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

I doubt JT interviews for that job. From what I've heard he learned in his time in the league that College is the place for him.

He's gone on record stating that he would like to coach again. With a 5 year show cause levied against him by the NCAA, the NFL is his only option. I would not be surprised in the least bit to see Tress as a HC this next year in the NFL.

This opportunity strikes me as the exact type he would be looking for. The bucs are in dire need of discipline. They are also one of the youngest teams in the league which means that most of the team played in college during JT's run and would have tremendous respect for him.

I agree that he would prefer to coach in college again but I don't see it happening (this year at least). The show cause isn't really a huge deal IMO. All a school has to do is say that he brings credibility to their fundraising and is a great example of leadership outside of football and boom.

But if he were to wait 5 years to coach again in college, that would put him at 64. Yes guys like Dick LeBeau is holding on strong but he is a rare breed (often known to get into push up contests with his players).

Just my .02

Jim Tressel?s name is popping up in talks about coaching positions in the NFL, and insiders say he may be a serious candidate for the Tampa Bay job. Tressel?s only pro experience came this season when he served as a replay consultant for the Indianapolis Colts. The NCAA hit the former Ohio State coach with a show-cause penalty that would make it difficult for any college program to hire him for five years.

The Colts also were rumored to be interested in Tressel as a coach, but his chances likely diminished when Colts vice chairman Bill Polian and his son, general manager Chris Polian, were fired.

Tressel has also been named as a possible candidate for the Jacksonville Jaguars? job. The Colts finished the regular season in Jacksonville last weekend and, because the Buckeyes were there preparing for the Gator Bowl, several Ohio reporters planned to talk with Tressel after the game, but he left without talking to the media.
