Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

I agree it's a good article, with the exception of the one following absurdity:

Sorry, but I don't think Jim Tressel has EVER claimed moral perfection. Nor has he "tried to make it seem" that he's morally perfect.
Perhaps it is a false perception, but that is sort of a national consensus on how tOSU program views itself. We all have one - at least many folks agree on programs other than their own. Notre Dame, Texas, Bama all have somewhat of a "we are better than anyone - how can you even question that?" persona. Which makes for the WTF? hilarity in the Domers' case.

Florida's is that Dan Jenkins quote, "Florida has the arrogance of Notre Dame and the tradition of Wake Forest!"

You guys? The "Holier than Thou" vibe comes across, at least fans of other programs often attribute that attitude to your fanbase. I'm not attesting to its accuracy so much as I'm just saying that it is, in fact, a view that is widely held outside y'alls' hood.

I don't understand how you're able to type that with your nose so far up in the air. :p

I'd offer a response, but I'm quite a bit better than that... as a football fan and as a person. You should thank me for even saying this much. I really am great. And you should maybe learn a thing or two about how to be great through me. Pay close attention to how humble I am too. You SEC folks are too "Look at me! Look at me!"

So... to recap...
I'm above responding because I'm better at life than you
You owe me a thank you because I am awesome.
Be humble

You forgot the part about being so gosh-darned good looking.

If there is anyone that is capable of getting us out of this mess, and taking accountability, it is Tress. I think they want him to stay, and he wants to stay, but the outside pressure might leak in. I just Hope Tress doesn't think the university would be better off if he resigned, because if he thinks that, he surely will resign because that how much respect for the program he has, but he would be wrong in thinking that.
Even if the punishments are harsh, I think he is the guy to overcome them.

I understand that this is the case. But if you're a "journalist," is simply repeating an inaccurate perception as if it were true the right thing to do?

News from Indy/LA- Southern Cal coach Todd McNair's sanctions were upheld, including a one year "Show cause" penalty.

In its infractions report, released last summer, the NCAA found that McNair "knew or should have known" that Bush and two would-be sports marketers from the San Diego area "were engaged in violations that negatively affected" Bush's amateur status.

The NCAA also determined that McNair "provided false and misleading information to the enforcement staff" and "violated NCAA legislation by signing a document certifying that he had no knowledge of NCAA violations."

In upholding the decision, the appeals committee said Friday that "the evidence met the standard required by its prior reports, the applicable NCAA bylaw and other matters which properly guide its decisions."

Unfortunately, I think this will be relevant in August.

That "knew or should have known" line is like a dagger between the 3rd and 4th rib, twisted. Ouch.

But there's at least hope:

Friday's report noted that its appeal decision regarding McNair was separate from the university's appeal, "which has not yet been decided."

So that's promising...
