Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

We have a young team and that alone says we can have an up and down year so it wasn't that big of a surprise that we lost. Certainly I am disappointed in the loss last week and wish we all had out yearly dreams for the team come true but it wasn't to be.
After saturday we can be happy again.

it's not a 2 loss season. it's 5-2 and losing to a 1-5 team. The way we have played on Offense (last two games). I am a Coach Tressel supporter...but any way you look at it. Lately, this offense is stinking it up.
My comment was obviously based on the assumption that Ohio State wins out. I do believe if you look you'll see that if Ohio State wins out - it will be a two loss season... Likewise, you'll also see that if Ohio State wins out, they will be Big Ten Champs yet again.

I don't want to sound like I'm making excuses for a dreadful game against a dreadful team... Just not worried that Ohio State is suddenly on the brink of becoming Notre Dame or Michigan or Nebraska

And other teams aren't young? My God we split a gut laughing at Weiss-ass crying that he had a young line. You prepare for such consequences. Right now the truth is that I can name at least two FRESHMEN QBs making better decisions than our "young" QB, who's a sophomore with the better part of a season and spring ball under his cap. Where's the coaching? Who's stepping up and getting him to lead into his throws? To stop trying to pitch the ball to anyone standing around when he's wrapped up?

Youth doesn't cut it.

Nebraska is a good example of the damage that can be done to an elite program by demanding changes that aren't necessary.

Well yeah, but ND/Weis recently went 3-9. OSU is currently 5-2. I'm not trying to tell you that everything is daffodils and ponies, but even in the worst case scenario, this is a down year with a slightly above 50% win rate. Nowhere near what you're analogizing it to.

As to your superior freshman QB's, who are they, whom have they played, and what kind of support do they have from the off. tackle position? Those things matter.

I will add...how quickly we forget we were 3-3, 0-3 in 2004 (in fact, this is the emoticon for 2004: :2004: )...and played for the National Title 2 years later. I'm not saying that's going to happen this time, but we have a great chance to finish strong and beat some good teams late to set the stage for another big run next season.

Start with Matt Barkley, move on to Tater Tot, and just how "old" was Josh Elliott? Or the kid from Navy?

Navy had a senior QB... Barkley and Tate have gotten better play from their lines. Barkley has a undeniable strong running game behind him and Tate has play arguably nobody of worth and threw one of those games away at the end. Plus hasn't a scUM rb ran for like 200 yards and 2 TDs one game pulling some gameplanning to them. JOEY Elliot is a RS Sr who currently is fighting for the lead in the B10 in passing.

Not to get on you Cinci cause I usually like your posts, but have you re watched the game from saturday?

TP was trying to put the ball away on both fumbles not pitch it away. His only extremely bad decision was the pick over Carter. The offense was coming together more than people want to say it was. I was thinking the same things you are until I re-watched the game. If you have the ability I would highly reccomend it. Actually to anyone. Not that the offense was stellar, but they definitly started finding themselves and were a play here or there from having 30 points again. This game was closer than the 23-7 score in the 3rd. I always slow plays down and dig thru the games to see if my assumptions are off. The WR's and TP started hitting strides and we went away from the run too early which could have helped in the end.

Neither "the navy kid" (Ricky Dobbs, Jr.) nor Joey Elliott (Sr.) is a true freshman. Moving on to the point at hand, Matt Barkley clearly has the benefit of superior OT play relative to what Pryor has, and Forcier arguably has that benefit as well. And this is granting the less-than-certain assertion that Barkley and Forcier have played better than Pryor against comparable competition. So, to support your original contention (multiple true freshman playing better than Pryor), you've named one person who, maybe, debatably, fits the bill.

I just wish that some of the "fans" out there would stop and appreciate what he has brought to Ohio State, rather than calling for him to be replaced. Be careful what you wish for. Just ask Michigan.

no one on this board wants to see him be replaced. they want to see him replace the OC. this is a huge difference, and it drives me fucking NUTS. Jim Tressel is NOT the the Messiah. he doesn't walk on water. he's a great head coach, but he DOES have faults. his offense is one of them. recognizing the doesn't mean we want to replace him.

like it or not, the staff put all of their eggs in the Terrelle Pryor basket. we like to laugh at the "all in for Meatchicken" slogan, but our staff took an INCREDIBLE gamble on this kid. talk about all in. is there a plan B if he doesn't work out? doesn't look like it. i'm not giving up hope, but it don't look good right now.

Step back from the ledge. No one here is saying he is the messiah. He'll tell you that himself. And as far as us putting all our eggs in the TP basket, this is not Vegas. It's not a roll of the dice. It's not a game of chance. You work with him. He works with you. He improves. He struggles, you work with him. He succeeds, you work with him. He improves.

It's not like they play a game of Russian Roulette every week to see if he'll throw 2 picks or if he'll combine for 300 yards.
