Someone seriously needs to look up the offense during the Cooper era. Yes he had much more potent offenses, yet he didn't win [censored]. What did he have, like 2 Big Ten championships?? Not to mention his 2-10-1 record against Michigan.

I think, I KNOW we've been spoiled as a fanbase. Remember last year when people were saying this was the "golden age" of Buckeye football? No [censored], and now Buckeye fans want that silver spoon and victories at all times.

No one is saying that it's ok to lose. Tressel wouldn't be in this line of business if he thought losing was ok or that if losing didn't tear him up, because I GUARANTEE YOU it does.

Does the offense have to get better? Absolutely. No one knows that better than JT himself. He's earned the right to straighten it out.

It's not against Tressel, it's a complete offense thing. The defense is what has been consistent.

My beef isn't with Tressel as a Coach, but the fact that he shields a terrible coach in Bollman.

Things have been terribly predictable the past 2-3 years, and proper adjustments aren't being made.

I'm not calling for a new head football coach. But I am screaming for some new offensive minds.

No, I know Grad wasn't saying JB was the answer. My point: Pryor in a funk is better than Bauserman playing lights-out. And Pryor knows it.

In order to have position competition, you need to have valid competitors. We have no such thing at the QB position, unlike the Smith-Zwick years and Krenzel-McMullen years. And hell, even the Pryor-Boeckman year.

So having good defense and good special teams precludes a team from having a great offense or at least gives them an excuse to not have one? Funny. Tressel doesn't coach those.

Right, but OU and Texas pull in five star defensive talent every fucking year too, and yet they rarely live up to that...kinda like tOSU's offense. I'm not saying I'm cool with it...oh, wait, that's exactly what I'm saying. I don't give a fuck what our offense does so long as tOSU wins at an 80% clip with five years between losses to unranked opponents.

I'm with you, except that I don't remember our offense looking this bad. If it's like this every year (I don't think it will be), it'll be a problem because we won't win 80% of our games. I just don't see any progression, or even an identity. It's worrisome.

But over the course of Tressel's tenure, I agree with you.

So are these "offense rankings" based on some composite of yardage, scoring, efficiency and turnover margin? Because then they might actually have some validity when comparing Tressel's offenses to the rest of NCAA, but if this is just some total-yardage stat it's really too simplistic to be meaningful.
