Jet's so serial: PSU = RIVALS!!!1!!11!

I've posted this before, and so have other people, I believe. But since joining the Big Ten (1993), here are all of the teams' conference winning records (not including 2013):
0.778 Ohio State 124-35-1
0.750 Nebraska 12-4
0.681 Michigan 109-51
0.638 Penn State 102-58
0.609 Wisconsin 96-61-3
0.509 Iowa 81-78-1
0.503 Michigan State 80-79-1
0.459 Purdue 72-85-3
0.438 Northwester 70-90
0.322 Illinois 51-108-1
0.313 Minnesota 50-110
0.225 Indiana 36-124

So Penn State is leading the charge of the 2nd tier teams, at 4.5 games ahead of Wisconsin. Although, it might be argued that Ohio State is alone in the top tier, with Michigan leading the 2nd tier teams, as they are 15.5 games behind Ohio State, and Penn State is only 7.0 games behind Michigan.

(The purpose of this was to point out that Penn State is NOT in the middle of mediocrity, as I believe someone else posted. But they're also not on the same level as Ohio State, as was maybe implied. I'd be interested to see how Penn State compares to the rest of the conference since about 2000 or so.)

(Edit: For the record, in my opinion, it's crazy to think that Penn State is Ohio State's rival. The MAY become a rival (not on Michigan's level, of course), but it will take a lot of time and a lot of competitive games to reach that level, though.)

Good stuff Zurp. I see Illinois & Minnesota are in an epic pillow fight for the Worst Football Team in the Big Ten Not Named Indiana Trophy. It could go either way this season ... how exciting.

PS: I <3 Jim Tressel.

Not to get too far off topic, but if you include this season to date, Illinois is now 51-111-1 (0.316), and Minnesota is 52-112 (0.317), meaning that Minnesota has passed Illinois. Or Illinois has passed Minnesota, depending on how you think about it.

The states of Ohio and M*ch*gan declared war on each other in 1835. The two states have continued that war on the football field for over 100 years. That makes them a rival.

So before playing a down of football for 62 years the football teams not even formed were already rivals? Guess that battle over the Toledo strip really meant something to you.

Let me try and follow your logic for a second. Because the states of Pennslyvania and Ohio did not have a battle over land they could not be rivals from day one like you insist Michigan was. Can you answer the (I'm betting you can't, but humor me) following question: Michigan won 21 of the first 24 games with Ohio State, at what point did Michigan consider Ohio State to be a rival? 1835, right..... :lol

Some fuckhead middle of the road B1G program that can only field a good team once every 4-5 years doesn't get to be a rival be it Iowa, Purdue, Penn State or anyone else.

Since 1993 as Zurp pointed out Penn State has the 3rd best conference record (not counting Nebraska at this point), so your thought of middle of the road is false.

To me its pretty simple

I think you have been hanging out at BWI to much.
