Jersey / Uniform Discussion (OSU)

It looked even worse on my tv. The helmets looked deep scarlet but the Uni's looked pink. If they were scarlet looking on tv I think I would of liked them but can we please leave the helmet alone if we do it again next year?

Yea, looked pink on my TV as well. The helmets had to have been as lightly different shade. They looked darker.

Exactly. The field of stars gets the position of honor, which on a person or vehicle is on the top toward the direction of forward motion.

Thanks so much for the explanation from both of you (including sflbuck) on this.

While this makes sense, one has to wonder why not just put it on the left sleeve in the "normal" orientation? Was there something else on the other sleeve that I missed?

In any event, I thought the unis were so-so, but at least they were accurate to the period they were honoring.

Flag has to be on the right arm because the right arm is the "sword" arm, hence the place of honor.

Got a text after The Game last night from a friend who is a UF alum asking me why Ohio State was wearing different uniforms. I exlpained the Nike Pro Combat thing and that they were to honor the 1942 NC team.

Her reply: "That's nice I guess, but they were really ugly. And the silver helmets with the leave thingies are cool and everyone knows them as buckeye helmets. Just yuck!!"

This from a person who hardly ever watches them.

Thanks to those hideous uniforms, I'm going to have nightmares tonight instead of the sweet dreams that should naturally follow such a wonderful day.
Not to worry. I think Bravo has a Tim Gunn marathon coming up to help you sleep soundly.

My vote, also, would be to stick to the regular uniforms for a few years.

Special uni's are just marketing Nike, and has about as much effect as painting racing stripes on your car.

It's bad enough the basketball team is wearing culottes.

Old School!
