Coach Boals' Twitter post was:

"Great day to be a Buckeye! Going to be an exciting day today!!"

???????? What's going on today?

Another possibility, to go along with Craft's visit may be that Coach Boals has discovered the truth that everyday is a great day to be a Buckeye (with maybe a couple of exceptions were it was only a good day to be a Buckeye )

Do you think Jeff Boals will help Ohio State's Big Man development?

Reggie Rankin
Hey Mike, Absolutely. Boals is a tremendous coach of post players. He will bring experience toughness and competitiveness along with knowledge of the game. Expect the Buckeyes bigs, who were pretty good to continue to improve. The Buckeyes have two high-level asst coaches in Boals and Allan Major. The Buckeyes are in good hands.

Ohio State assistant Jeff Boals was invited to Villa 7 this week. The two-day symposium is a partnership between the Center for Sport Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University and Nike and is held at Nike's campus in Beaverton, Ore. Nearly 50 athletic department administrators and conference administrators and nearly 90 men's and women's coaches are attending. Ohio State women's assistant Kelly Meury also was invited.

Behind bench, 'Boals Brothers' mimic coach

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Ohio State men's basketball assistant coach Jeff Boals must be quite flattered.

Donning suits and Boals' signature glasses, OSU students Michael Falcon and Corey Olson, nicknamed the "Boals Brothers," loom behind Boals and the Buckeyes' bench during each home game.

"It's kind of a humbling, creepy thing," Boals said. "It's all in good humor, though. I don't know why they selected me."

Sandy Valley grad Boals waiting his turn in NCAA coaching ranks
By Roger Metzger
The Associated Press
Posted Mar 26, 2011

His time is coming.

One day down the road, former Sandy Valley High product Jeff Boals will be the head coach of a Division I men?s college basketball program.

It?s just a matter of when.

But right now, the 1990 Cardinal grad spent his past season helping prepare the No.1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes as an assistant coach to head coach Thad Matta.

While Matta gets the bulk of the credit for the success of the 34-3 Buckeyes, Boals and fellow assistants Brandon Miller and Dave Dickerson also played a big hand in Ohio State?s run to the Sweet 16.

The Buckeyes had hoped for a longer run, but Kentucky had other plans.

The annual late-season coaching carousel has begun.

Some coaches have gotten pink slips, while others will make moves to better jobs after their run through March Madness ends.

Ohio State?s success could have other schools shopping Matta?s staff for a new assistant coach for the third time in four years, and that includes Boals. John Groce left for Ohio University in 2008, and Alan Major for Charlotte last year.

Boals is an up-and-comer, much like another former area standout, Bob Huggins, who worked his way up the collegiate coaching ladder and is the main man at West Virginia.

Boals, who helped recruit the seniors that led the Zips into the NCAA Tournament, has been responsible for the players the Buckeyes have had over the past two years.

Boals helped land three-star prospects and current freshmen Aaron Craft and J.D. Weatherspoon shortly after leaving Akron for Ohio State.

Prior to joining the Buckeyes in 2009, Boals coached college basketball at his alma mater, Ohio, Marshall, the University of Charleston (W.Va.), Robert Morris and Akron.

Will he be offered the UD job? I think they (UD) will take a long look.

I have heard his name mentioned...but supposedly UD athletic director is traveling to St. Mary's to talk to Bennett.

I just hope UD can keep 2 of their recruits from jumping ship to the Big 10. Ladontae Henton runner up for Mr. Basketball in Michigan has said Greggory was the main reason for picking UD. Rumored interest at Penn St. by both sides. His quote as of yesterday “As of right now, I’m a Dayton Flyer.”

Percy Gibson: It’s devastating,” he said of Gregory’s exit. “But as far as right now, I’m still a Flyer.” Rumored interest in MSU by both sides. Plus MSU has a kid transferring out (Garrick Sherman) so they have a 'ship to fill.

He is considered the leading candidate for the Fresno State job...would really hate to lose him

I've had this up on my Twitter account in recent days but, for those of you non-tweeps, it may be news that Ohio State assistant coach Jeff Boals has interviewed for at least two head coaching jobs and is being touted as the favorite for one, at Fresno State.

Boals, 38, interviewed with Fresno State officials in San Francisco last week en route to the Final Four in Houston, where he interviewed for the Kent State job, according to sources.
Rob Senderoff, a former assistant to Geno Ford at Kent State and the current interim coach there (Ford went to Bradley), is perceived to be the favorite at Kent, especially by players who have openly lobbied for his promotion. An announcement should come this week.

Meanwhile, Boals was labeled over the weekend by Fresno television station KGPE as the "leading candidate" to fill that vacancy. An announcement on that hiring also should come this week.

Fresno State's athletic director is Thomas Boeh, who worked in the same capacity at Ohio University. Boals is an Ohio graduate and former player there.

If Boals moves on, bank on video coordinator Kevin Kuwik sliding into his job. Kuwik has waited patiently for a promotion since joining Thad Matta's staff two years ago. He was a fulltime assistant at Ohio U. from 2001-08.
