Javon Ringer (Former RB Michigan St.)

OSU hasn't offered Ringer because of his grades. For over 2 years now Javon's been saying he'd commit the second he was offered by OSU but he's failed to ever take his grades seriously enough until this year. OSU's whole issue with him since he's been on the radar screen is taking his grades seriously. 2 years ago, Tressel told him that same thing and it took longer than Tressel would have liked it for it to sink in.
Tressel's just waiting on the latest results and they'll go from there.

by the way, Ringer will commit to OSU if offered, that still hasn't changed.

Goofy everything you said seems to be echoed by the dispatch today.

http://www.dispatch.com/football/football.php?story=dispatch/2004/12/01/20041201-B1-03.html

"An interesting story is Javon Ringer of Dayton Chaminade-Julienne. Ringer rushed for 1,776 yards and 20 touchdowns in seven games before suffering a torn knee ligament.

OSU coaches have let Ringer know they want him but have not offered a scholarship. Academic concerns appear to be the holdup.

Apparently, Ringer may fall in the gray area between being an NCAA qualifier but not meeting Ohio State’s increasingly high standards.

Chaminade-Julienne coach Jim Place said Ringer wants to play for Ohio State but is on the verge of moving on to another choice, perhaps Michigan State.

"Our lines are still open (to Ohio State)," Place said. "We’re just trying to work through the things that need to be done." "

Hey Otis...Ringer just hasn't gotten his act together and he's had so much time to do it and that really irks Tressel. I think he's taking it more seriously now that it's crunch time though. Michigan State has a very leniant program so that's why Javon's considering them. Same thing happened to another CJ guy, Brandon McKinney. He wanted to go to OSU but couldn't get his grades up to snuff.

I hope Ringer gets it done cause he's a badass. I was told by a coach with 15 yrs in HS football that Ringer was the best he's ever seen. I believe he just took his ACT or SAT retest and we'll have the results soon. Javon's a real good kid with a very bright future. He just didn't take things as seriously as he should have.

hey i go to school with javon ringer and brandon harrison and I also played football with them for three years. I'm not sure of Javon's grades because i don't have any classes with him this year, but I think he is doing better because they have gotten him a tutor. Second Brandon isn't looking at Notre Dame anymore at all. After their coach was fired or whatever, he's been kind of dissapointed with their athletic department, so he said the two biggest schools he's looking at now is mainly Iowa, and Michigan. He didn't say anything about Ohio State, and I don't think he's even considering OSU. This is pretty recent because i just talked to him about it yesterday Dec. 8. I have two classes with him.

If you want to be taken seriously as someone who has info, it is usually a good idea to not contradict yourself in your first post.

Damn we get touchy this time of year.

cjstudent, if you're legit, its good to hear from someone who talks to to these guys. I hope Javon gets his grades in order and has a good test score. He seems like a great kid with a true desire to be Buckeye. I'd hate to see him miss that chance due to lack of classroom effort or whst ever.
