Javon Ringer (Former RB Michigan St.)

The tactics of recruiting RB's at OSU are kind of confusing but in the end I sure do hope Javon is a Buckeye. I sure hope he comes to Columbus and works his tail off and squashes all those questions of grades and of the knee and then racks up some major yards on the field. He would be great with this new Offensive line coming in. I can see him doing some major damage on those cutback lanes.
Be patient Javon, I am sure when you get to college you will do well.
Go Buckeyes !!!

Ringer Willing To Wait, But For How Long? - Rivals Premium

Because he needs to rest his knee(doctor's orders) Javon will be unable to attend the scUM game Saturday. Javon's Mom and family are already sold on Ohio State. Javon's Mom would like the Buckeyes to make a decision soon on whether or not they'll offer but she says they will wait as long as Javon is willing to wait. It appears Sparty is his second choice with Tennessee rounding out his top 3.

Umm, remember Miles Williams? You can be sure they're going to make sure everything is lined up academically before they offer, because it's apparent he'll commit on the spot. Even if he got the req'd test score (has it been officially confirmed, by the way?), they still have to lay out a plan for him to complete his HS course work with sufficient grades as well.

my guess is that the staff will put the full court press on wells this weekend.

He only has a visit left to GT after osu, so osu will probably know where they stand by then.

Gwaltny is going to announce on 1/15 at the AA game. If either wells or gwaltny falls through, they will probably offer ringer shortly thereafter. They may also wait until gwaltny and wells have both committed, if they both choose osu, and then offer ringer if someone else in this class falls through.

its a numbers game right now, and a recruit at LB or WR may take precedence over a 3rd rb if it were to come to that.

i could easily see wells going to GT if gwaltny committed to osu.

With the way it sounds I believe the coaches are telling ringer that he will get the offer if the other running backs don't come here, but if they don't then he will be next in line and he has already told them he will come here so I believe that after this weekend the coaches will get a feel on wells and if they feel he will go elsewhere then ringer will be a buckeye if not I think they will wait till after Gwaltney on the 15th but I have to believe they are telling him that they believe that only one of them will verbal with them understanding recruiting and he will probably get that offer. Things like this happen every year. I believe that fact that the coaches keep in contact with him is showing us that they really like him, they also probably want to know if his knee will get back up to par, I believe that is the reason they asked him to greyshirt.

I'd be surprised if these two see each other as competition... different styles... a finesse speed back.. and a bruiser bludgeoning back... the perfect combination...

I see Ringer and Wells as similar backs...
Gwaltney and Stewart as similar backs...

I placed my order for one of each....

I assume Ringer can also play DB... that could play well right now...

Ringer named one of 3 offensive POY's in Southwest District

Southwest district team

By Dave Long

Dayton Daily News

DAYTON | Tommy Tamaska of Centerville, Javon Ringer of Chaminade-Julienne and Nick Lewis of Oakwood now have something else in common besides rushing for 2,000 yards in a season.

All three are offensive players of the year in their respective divisions on the Associated Press 2004 All-Southwest District high school all-star football team released Wednesday.

Schools in the Southwest District go from Cincinnati north to Sidney and from Springfield west to the Indiana border. The team is chosen by a media panel. Players must make one of six all-district teams to be considered for All-Ohio honors.

The 5-10, 207-pound Ringer repeats as the top Division III offensive player. He has missed the last four games for the 9-3 Eagles after suffering a season-ending knee injury. For the season, he amassed 1,763 yards rushing, 20 TDs and was a sure bet to go over 2,000 yards for the third straight year.

"Wow, that's great news," Ringer said. "I didn't think I had a chance for the player of the year after I hurt my knee. I figured I was finished."

Congrats to Javon!!

Coach Says Ringer Recovery Going Well
By Bucknuts.com staff
Date: Nov 22, 2004

Today, we talked with Dayton Chaminade-Julienne head coach Jim Place for the Bucknuts Radio Hour. Place gave us some news on star running back Javon Ringer and how he is recovering from his torn ACL injury. Click on the link for more and be sure to tune in to this week's Bucknuts Radio Hour to hear the rest of the show.

We talked with Dayton Chaminade-Julienne head coach Jim Place today for this week's edition of the Bucknuts Radio Hour. Place gave us some news on running back Javon Ringer, who will have had surgery two weeks ago from this Wednesday and is recovering well.

"They told him he had to stay on crutches for six weeks, so he walks around the halls here carrying his crutches," Place said. "He is way ahead on his rehabilitation."

Ringer has a goal to be playing by this summer.

"Everybody says he's not going to play in those all-star games this summer," Place said. "He says he's playing in them."

Place also said that Ringer's academics are on track.

"We feel really good that he's on track," Place said.

The big question is whether or not Ringer will wind up in a Buckeye uniform. Place said he can see Ringer playing for the Buckeyes, but we will have to wait and see what happens.

"I can, but you know what? I don't count," Place said. "But I really, really think that he can be an immediate impact player up there.

"Recruiting becomes a lot more complicated. There's some things that have happened up in Columbus that I think we all know about -- I don't want to talk about -- that have made it, just that Ohio State is taking the attitude right now that we need to move very slow on every front, so everything's okay."

There's even been some talk about Javon grayshirting at Ohio State.

"I think that's an option," Place said. "That's something that really I brought up."

Make no mistake about it though, Javon wants to get back on the field as soon as he can. Place shared an instance where Javon tried to prove he was ready.

"Let me tell you a story about Javon," Place said. "Before the first Alter game (week 10), Javon went out on the field and raced Brandon Harrison -- it was the Thursday before the game. and ran him to a dead heat with a torn ACL. He said, 'Coach, please let me play. Look what I did there, I tied him.'"

Wow. Glad to hear his rehab's going so well. Offer the kid already!
