Javon Ringer (Former RB Michigan St.)

Where would you see Wells as having a better potential for improvement than Ringer?

I don't but it only matters what the Buckeye Staff's evaluation is and they may see a difference. Specifically the difference was probably something I didn't mention - grades & scores. There may have been other differences and there might be a big difference now that Ringer is injured.

Rumors or just old news ???

Is it rumor or just old news that USC offered Ringer ?? Trying to confim if its true or not?
I tell ya I still hope OSU doesn't let Javon get away. He is a good kid and I think with all the work outs at rehab and also how strong he was before the injury; he's going to be a good one.

BNutty ????

BuckNutty,
Do you think he'll get an offer from OSU soon or are there circumstances that may hold that up (ie: outstanding offers OSU has to wait on first and/or seeing how his rehab progresses) before they can offer Javon??

The timeline for finally getting a verbal from a good RB is making me nervous.
I will always have faith in the Coaches though. They have the inside track.
Just wish I could be a fly on the room where all the recruiting is though. Something about this kid that I like alot. Great work ethic, disciplined enough to be a black belt in the martial arts, worked his butt off to get his grades up and too boot he is a great runner.

For the love of God, offer the kid! He wants to be a Buck, has the skills, is doing everything the coaches are asking of him, and plays a critical position. Yeah, he had an injury to his ACL, but we have players on scholarship right now who tore their ACL's in high school.

Sorry, just getting a little frustrated with this one.

It might be the booze talking but I'd be willing to bet Ringer eventually gets an offer. I don't think we land 2 out of the group of Wells, Gwaltney and Stewart and you have to assume the staff wants two running backs in this class. If Ringer gets an offer he's a Buckeye no matter what other RB we get in this class.

From everything I've read Coach Tressel has been in contact with Ringer throughout the process. I'm sure the knee injury didn't help things but you have to assume as long as he gets it does in the classroom he'll get an offer. I have been worried that he'd jump on another offer before the Buckeyes came through with one but there is talk he will wait as long as necessary. The kid is a major talent and a model citizen who is well respected by his coaches and teammates. I read somewhere today that Ringer is a better person than he is a ball player, and that's saying something. Sounds like Buckeye material to me.

I completely agree. As long as his grades are ok I don't understand the hold up. That's why the coaches make the big bucks I guess. Hopefully that offer comes soon.

Why not just offer him? Here are a few possible reasons...

1. His injury is very bad and you don't think he will ever be effective again because of it.

2. His grades are still an issue.

3. You have other RBs rated higher and will only offer if you miss out on them.

4. You absolutely must get two RB in this class that will be available to play next year and Ringer's injury may not allow him to play next year.

5. You don't like his mojo.

I have absolutely no idea what the staff's thoughts are on Ringer or if any of the above are real possibilities why they haven't offered him. I do very much hope he gets an offer because of his great skills on the field and his behavior off the field. Get well Javon and come back stronger than ever.
