BOWLING GREEN, KY. ? With broken ribs suffered just two weeks ago, Trinity High School wide receiver James Quick found his way back to the field and capped a record-setting career.

Quick finished with three catches for 83 yards and two touchdowns as the Shamrocks routed Pleasure Ridge Park 61-7 in Saturday?s Class 6-A championship game.

Quick was injured in the regional final against St. Xavier two weeks ago and missed last week?s semifinal win over Scott County. Coach Bob Beatty said Thursday that he didn?t expect Quick to play against PRP, but doctors cleared the receiver to return Friday.

?He makes a big difference,? Beatty said. ?He gets our ballclub fired up, and he was pretty wound up before the game knowing he was going to get to play. I don?t think he?s 100 percent, but he has some time to heal now.?

Quick entered the game for the first time on Trinity?s third offensive series. He didn?t have a reception in the first half but hauled in a pair of 35-yard touchdown passes during a 12-second span in the third quarter as the Shamrocks padded their lead.

?The first play I was playing it a little nervous,? said Quick, who wore padding. ?I didn?t know how I was going to feel. I leaned in and got knocked down. After my first hit I was ready to play.?

Quick, named the Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year last week, finished his season with 85 catches for 1,416 yards and 16 TDs. He ranks first in state history with 280 catches and third in yards (4,437) and touchdowns (57).

Well I guess we can cross off the "Strong to Arkansas" possibility. And with Auburn off the list too, it's looking more (to me anyway) like we're going to have to beat out Louisville with Strong if we want Quick's signature.

Strong to Tennessee is still a very real possibility.

Quick surges 68 spots, No. 114 nationally in updated Rivals250
Posted on December 4, 2012 by Steve Jones

Trinity High School wide receiver and top University of Louisville recruiting target James Quick made among the biggest climbs of any player in the country in the Rivals250 prospect rankings - rising 68 spots to the No. 114 position.

Quick, the state?s all-time leader in receptions, finished the year with 85 catches for 1,413 yards and 16 touchdowns and helped the Shamrocks to their third consecutive Class 6-A state title.

?Quick continues to prove he is one of the most electric playmakers at his position, as well as being one of the more polished receivers in the country,? Midwest analyst Josh Helmholdt said in a story on Rivals? site. ?His stock has risen steadily over the last year and he could be in line to keep that positive momentum with a big performance at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl next month.?

Quick, who has a top three of U of L, Ohio State and Oregon, is now ranked as the nation?s No. 13 wide receiver.

He?s one of three Kentuckians in the Rivals250. The others are Apollo offensive lineman/Notre Dame commitment Hunter Bivin, who is ranked No. 171, and Trinity defensive end/Southern California commitment Jason Hatcher, who is No. 215.

Quick and Hatcher will play in the Army bowl in San Antonio on Jan. 5.

May be wrong.. but I think his old QB is the backup QB at Louisville
He was the one alternating with Bridgewater vs Rutgers

Yes, Will Stein.

I'm surprised no one has plucked Andrew Coverdale from Trinity. He's their OC and was running TODAY's en vogue bunch formations ten years ago with Brian Brohm. He's still only 40-ish I think.

This should probably say 'for now' at the end. Gotta think that Strong will move on when one of the big boys comes along in the next year or two.

It could be sooner than that if the talks about chip Kelly and nick saban going to the nfl are true. Then I wonder what quick does. Still think we're in this fight
