James Quick (WR Louisville)

With Bridgewater being a likely top 5 pick next year, it's not probable that he'll be there more than a year.

Nothing guaranteed next year, we dont know how bridgewater will play. Ask matt barkley how much a difference 1 year makes. He went from a lottery pick and a lock to win the heisman to going maybe late first round and wasnt even considered for any post season awards

Barkely was always overrated, and was always going to be a 2nd-3rd pick. He's 6-1, with not much arm strength, erratic accuracy, bad decision making, plays in a stat-inflating offense (throws slants and screens all day to superstar WR's), etc. He just never had the physical tools to be a first overall pick.

Bridgewater is the real deal and the best QB in the nation next season. Quick's only going to get to play with him for one year though, but I can hardly blame him for staying home and playing at UL. Everything just leaned too far on the Louisville side in this one, and I never really thought OSU had a shot (but I'm also quite pessimistic).

That is saying an awful lot and I won't even include Braxton but I will say Johnny Football.

Agreed. Bridgewater played a heck of a game against UF, but IMO Manziel was even more masterful against Oklahoma. And Brax is no slouch. :osu:

Sure. You should always trust every word out of a 17-18 year old's mouth, even when they may be trying to create some suspense in connection with a televised announcement on where they'll play college football. :roll2:

Recruiting gurus were saying Quick was leaning towards OSU earlier than just the day prior to his annoucement. If you're convinced that Quick was never seriously considering us, then that's your choice...

Where did I ever say that Quick was never seriously considering OSU?

. Seriously? I think there's some wool that's been pulled over your eyes.

Ahhh yes, the old tin foiled hats and conspiracy theory posts...

If you don't think a young kid cannot be swayed with a big time bowl win from an up-and-coming black HC, from a school that is in his home state than you might want to get your head checked.

Think about some bowl games that have changed the face of college ball and the public opinion of a program: Miami's NC loss to OSU (the fall of Rome), Boise State's win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl 2006, TCU's win over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl 2010.

.

A number of factors probably contributed--staying home, parents are alumns, likes Strong. But if you think he would've committed to OSU had UF won the Sugar Bowl, you may want to have someone explain to you what "naive" means.

The debate on why he chose UL has gone on so long I keep expecting to see that this man is his reason.

Good luck Mr. Quick.

Didn't MD Buckeye say to move on? I suggest you heed his advice...

As much as wed like to predict the future based on the present, it just isnt always so, that's why games are played. Matt barkley was the #1 rated qb coming into this year by analysts and had he left last year wouldve even been in the lottery, and possibly went over rg3 (this is solely based on views last year). All the opinions you gave were based off of this years evaluations. Once a qb gets on major analysts radar, they are nitpicked to death. Its hard to say how bridgewater will do next year. I bet no one thought that geno smith would play as well as he did the first 5 games and be rated the #1 qb in the draft?
Now as far as james is concerned, i hope he gets some solid pt, but arent their top 2 wrs a soph and junior that put up great numbers? Strong better pull a rabbit out of the hat with his next qb because there isnt much behind teddy and itd be a waste for quick to have to play for a bad qb. But he must know something we all dont. Best of luck james

I guess I meant to say as far as the draft is concerned, he's generally considered to be the consensus #1 QB prospect next year and I absolutely agree. I'm huge on the NFL draft and so I always end up thinking about and judging players based on their potential at the next level. I'd agree with you on Manziel just being the best overall QB though, that guy is just ridiculous.

I know what you're saying and I agree with you, but several knowledgeable people had Smith as the number one rated QB coming into this season, but you're right... most casual fans and all of the media viewed Barkely as the #1 guy. You ever hear of footballsfuture.com? Great site, I've been visiting it for years. The guys on the draft forums are always on these guys early; many had Geno #1 before the season even started. Even if Barkely would have declared after his junior year, I feel like his stock would still have dropped during the scouting process (combine, game-film). Impossible to predict, but I just feel like there's no way Barkely goes over RG3.

Sorry for getting this off topic.

Back of luck to Quick though.
