Jameis Winston (QB Browns)

This might all be moot however, as Winston is expected to be a high pick in the MLB draft, and has said he won't turn down "first-round money."

In case anyone is wondering 1st round MLB draft money is significant.

Last years top 2 guys signed for over 8 MM each. The minimum (top 33 or so) is likely 1MM.

That said I haven't seen a list yet that has him in the top 50.

He is on record saying football is his passion...that draft status has plummeted.

bigdog3300 in the 2012 Recruiting Forum has said that, according to his sources, Winston will be flipping to Alabama in the near future. this post

Ah bummer, some more depth at QB would have been nice. Doesn't matter to me since we have Brax but I hate to see Saban get any good recruit. May he lose by 40 in the "championship" game.

M and MM are not baseball terms...they are normal American terms to describe money denominations

m 100,000
mm 1,000,000

And here I thought they were candy....

Why Alabama hasn't given up hope of flipping Jameis Winston
Published: Sunday, January 01, 2012
By Doug Segrest -- The Birmingham News

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Nick Saban's staff hasn't given up on landing Hueytown's Jameis "Jaboo" Winston.

There's a lot of speculation in re*cruiting circles that Winston, a Florida State commitment, could still wind up at Alabama.

One of the reasons is that Win*ston still plans to take more official visits, and possibly as many as four with a limit of five.

"I think it's pretty much Alabama and Florida State, for sure," Huey*town coach Matt Scott said. "He's got three officials left. I think he's going to take one to Stanford."

Scott said Ohio State is a possibil*ity for an official visit, as well. Winston took official visits to Alabama and LSU earlier, but Scott said you can scratch LSU from consideration after the Tigers landed Gunner Kiel.

At the Alabama-Mississippi all-star practices, Winston told Birmingham News Prep Editor Jeff Sentell that he was also considering an official visit at Auburn.

Winston knows he can play foot*ball and baseball at FSU and Ala*bama. That agreement was worked out months ago. The Major League Baseball draft is another concern.

Winston could be an early-round pick, but his stated preference is to play two sports in college.

Scott said regardless whether Winston sticks with FSU or changes direction, no one -- not coaches, family or friends - will sway him.

"Jameis is going to make his own decision," Scott said. "And that's that."

Doesnt Alabama have some depth already at QB?
They signed Phillip Sims, 5-star #2 rated QB in the 2010 and hes not even the starter yet.
They have AJ Mccarron as the starter, 4-star #17 rated QB signed 2009. He'll only be a Junior next year.
So Jameis would be 3rd back in the depth chart, I havent even seen Sims play, so I dont imagine Jameis would see much playing time next year...
Unless Sims just isnt a good qb...?
