BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Nick Saban's staff hasn't given up on landing Hueytown's Jameis "Jaboo" Winston.
There's a lot of speculation in re*cruiting circles that Winston, a Florida State commitment, could still wind up at Alabama.
One of the reasons is that Win*ston still plans to take more official visits, and possibly as many as four with a limit of five.
"I think it's pretty much Alabama and Florida State, for sure," Huey*town coach Matt Scott said. "He's got three officials left. I think he's going to take one to Stanford."
Scott said Ohio State is a possibil*ity for an official visit, as well. Winston took official visits to Alabama and LSU earlier, but Scott said you can scratch LSU from consideration after the Tigers landed Gunner Kiel.
At the Alabama-Mississippi all-star practices, Winston told Birmingham News Prep Editor Jeff Sentell that he was also considering an official visit at Auburn.
Winston knows he can play foot*ball and baseball at FSU and Ala*bama. That agreement was worked out months ago. The Major League Baseball draft is another concern.
Winston could be an early-round pick, but his stated preference is to play two sports in college.
Scott said regardless whether Winston sticks with FSU or changes direction, no one -- not coaches, family or friends - will sway him.
"Jameis is going to make his own decision," Scott said. "And that's that."
