Jameis Winston (QB Browns)

Jameis Winston, Todd Gurley linked to same authenticator

Georgia running back Todd Gurley has been suspended indefinitely for allegedly violating NCAA rules.

Could Jameis Winston be next?

The website Racing To A Red Light uncovered that the Florida State quarterback had memorabilia authenticated by James Spence Authentication -- the same firm that dealt with the Gurley autographs.

The reason for suspicion came when the site discovered that the same business had authenticated more than 100 Winston items consecutively.

Each item was authenticated by James Spence Authentication, and Racing To A Red Light noticed the trend by increasing an original authentication ID number by a single digit.

Cont'd ...

Something doesn't add with with Willie Meggs' story. If what's he's now saying is true, then the officers at FSUPD and TPD, as well as those within the administration, that handled the incident are either accessories after the fact, or they committed obstruction of justice. He's saying this crap to cover his ass. He should have been screaming from the mountaintops a year ago.

:slappy:

Now he's facing a disciplinary hearing. Free Shoes doesn't have a clue what to do now....all this is out in the open and the good ol boys can't cover it anymore. This can't be anything but a show trial, right?

The NCAA is the least of the school's worries. A Title IX violation that would include a showing of concealment of a rape by university officials of one of its students could potentially lead to a loss of a large amount of federal government money.

Potentially under the law, it could lead to FSU students being ineligible for federally backed student loans and Pell Grants.

I said when the punishment for OSU was handed down- the precedent was set, stonewalling and telling the NCAA to fuck off is absolutely the best policy when they come snooping around, now more than ever since anything could be the last straw for the power conferences to break away completely.

I would be surprised if anything comes of this by way of the NCAA.

I understand the reasoning, but I still disagree. It's about an individual university's priorities, culture and the integrity of the people in charge. Let FSU and Auburn be FSU and Auburn; it speaks volumes about their worth as serious universities. Cooperation was still the right thing for us to do. We fucked up, dealt with it as best we could and took our punishment with dignity. I have no problem with that.

Let me put it this way, what lesson would you give to your children to follow when they screw up: follow the Ohio State model or the FSU model?

Yep, I also find Megg's stronger stance on what happened now very curious. If he can be convinced to talk even more I'm betting some money/compensation changing hands/threats to keep things from getting out of hand initially will come to light. He knows things are going to unravel, and he doesn't want to be on the wrong side anymore.

EDIT: Hopefully this "impartial" person that ends up overseeing the hearing is truly impartial, but I have my doubts.

A quote from the end of the NYT article that gives great context to how out of touch with reality these hillbillies are in Tallynasty:

The sergeant was recently demoted after running two red lights and hollering at state troopers while off duty. He said he got carried away because he was excited about Florida State winning a big softball game against Michigan.

“Where I was, everybody was whooping and hollering,” he told internal affairs investigators. “The streets were busy. And I left, and as I passed the trooper, I whooped and hollered.”

a softball game

If you "whoop and holler" to the point of arrest after a fucking womens softball game that your daughter wasn't in, you have issues. Deep issues.

They let him be a cop. With a gun and arrest powers (or more likely Paterno vision powers when you are the victim of a football player).
