I was asking for Jameis to have the right to remain anonymous not for the girl's identity to be revealed....so, this girl gets drug through the mud on national tv, and is basically labelled for life and has to transfer schools in hopes nobody ever figures out who she is, and no charges get filed. yep, that girl made out like a bandit in this deal.
The decision by Florida prosecutors to not press sexual assault charges against Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has financial ramifications for Winston and his school.
State Attorney Willie Meggs said Thursday that no charges would be filed against Winston, 19, who was accused of raping a female student in December 2012. Meggs said there was not enough evidence for anyone to be charged.
Clearing this legal hurdle makes Winston a nearly shoe-in to win the Heisman Trophy award as long as he performs well in this weekend's ACC Championship game. That's an automatic future revenue stream for Winston.
....Also, with Winston available to play, the potential increases for the Seminoles to win the national championship. That, too, can be extremely valuable. Schools that have won titles have seen licensing revenue jump by $1 million to $2 million.
An increase in booster money varies widely depending on the program, but there's no debate that Florida State's athletic department needs the money. In recent years, it has had a problem making budget and Seminole Boosters, in the last reported year, raised only $31.7 million, down from $42.8 million five years ago, according to tax records.
Seems fishy but if the kid was found not guilty then that's great. Get past Sparty and 2002 repeats itself. Just hope it doesn't take a few overtimes.
If the prosecution can't get enough for a trial then it's obvious what the verdict is whether he is or not.
I wouldn't say that. I just read through the documents and things don't seem so clear. What seems to be missing from the prosecution's case is an explanation for her reported "incoherent" state during the incident. Tox screen came back negative for drugs and her blood alcohol was not high enough to indicate severe intoxication. Conveniently for him, his roommate/teammate were not interviewed until last month and gave remarkably consistent statements that she was coherent and the aggressor. On the other hand, her phone records indicate that she immediately called 2 different friends right when she got back to her dorm and what she told one of the friends (something about being hit on the head and blacking out) prompted that friend to call her parents - who called her at 3AM. After that, she contacted the campus police. What is missing in the reports are any kind of lengthy statements by her friends. I think a case would more or less hinge on her believability as a witness against him. My guess is he wouldn't take the stand. It's a classic he said, she said but the tox report seems to weigh in his favor. Not sure what to make of the lack of statements from her friends.
