Jameis Winston (QB Browns)

Whatever; I'm done with this discussion. If you all think it's a good idea to give your daughters the notion that they can say "no" at any time and expect the desired result, then tell them that. But I'm glad my wife and I didn't say that to our daughter.
I told her that exact thing. And took her to learn Krav Maga. I think she'll be fine.

it's not a good idea to spend time around other young people if you want to avoid sex, drugs or selfies (yes I hate myself for using that word)

That doesn't change the choices and responsibility behind them.

I do hope the right thing happens here.. whatever that is.. I am NOT making any opinion or judgements

I have no doubt there are men who have been accused of rape in situations where it was consensual. But, that said, I have a real hard time understanding what possible motivation a woman would have for having consensual sex and then immediately going to the police...

There are cases in which 'consensual' changed once 'the victim' was confronted by a significant other, friends, sorority sisters, family..
When there is violence involved, it's much easier to separate the issue..
But I saw it all happen in college.. really messed up my buds head for months.. and I saw everything.. no charges were filed but he was "guilty" around campus.. which was 1000% false... he wasn't even the aggressor.. sorority sisters demanded to know where she was (she was a pledge)and everything took a life of its own

I sincerely appreciate @HaideeRDLS post... and am so sorry she or any woman ever had to deal with that experience

There's a difference between putting yourself in a bad situation and being victim of a crime. If she says no he CAN and should stop, at any time. If he doesn't, it's not because he can't, it's because he chose not to. Saying anything else is disingenuous and dangerous.

Too many young women have been given the idea that the young male human is equipped with a sexual on-off switch that can be flipped with immediate impact. But we aren't made that way, and it seems that girls no longer are being taught this unfortunate fact.

The fuck you say. She says "No", you stop fucking her. End of story. Jesus, Max. You jumped the goddamned shark on this one.

No one is saying people should throw common sense out the window when it comes to avoiding bad situations, but that doesn't mean she deserves to get raped. Or she is remotely to be blamed.

So in other words, we now know that a sex act happened between Winston and the accuser. The PD/investigators gave the complainant's attorney the run around for a few months, told them there might be very negative repercussions if they pursued it, declined to take Winston's DNA sample because it would go public, and ultimately failed to notify anyone farther up the legal chain than themselves resulting in the case just sitting there. Yeah, this has all the makings of a perfectly upright investigation into an alleged sexual assault/rape/battery.

While I don't wish to pass judgement prematurely, it sure is difficult to not lean in a certain direction given what we know.
