Jameis Winston accuser goes public

The woman who accused Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston of sexually assaulting her in December 2012 has spoken publicly for the first time about the case.

In a new documentary film, Erica Kinsman came forward publicly with her specifics about the alleged sexual attack by Winston and allowed herself to be identified and filmed.

Her account is one of several testimonies from alleged victims of sexual abuse on college campuses to be featured as part of "The Hunting Ground," which had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The paper said she decided to go public in the film, to be aired on CNN and released in theaters, to share her side of what allegedly happened between her and Winston as well as tell her story in the context of heightening awareness of rape and harassment on campuses.

At NFL scouting combine, a new emphasis on character

INDIANAPOLIS — Jameis Winston won the Heisman Trophy, reeled off 29 consecutive victories and managed a pro-style offense during the past two seasons at Florida State. He possesses every physical attribute NFL teams desire in a franchise quarterback and has revealed them in live action.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers own the first overall pick in this year’s draft. They desperately require a quarterback. The only one on their roster, Mike Glennon, has toggled between starter and backup for two years. They won two games last season, and a quarterback, especially one who led a local college to a national championship, would revive hope on the field and put fans in the seats.

And still, Coach Lovie Smith felt compelled to stand before reporters Wednesday afternoon at the National Scouting Combine and declare: “Based on the information we have right now, we haven’t taken [Winston] off our list.”
