Jaiden Woodbey (DB Florida State, transfer to Boston College)

So were Matthew Baldwin, Tate Martell, Pete Werner(and that's just the past 2 classes) all placeholders? Should the same things be said about them because they were flipped to OSU? I'm saying do your due diligence as well, but what about a coach who leaves right before the season ends and leaves kids who are committed to his class now in limbo(which is the situation at Tenn, Oregon, FSU, UF, Arky, etc)? It seems odd that a coach like Willie Taggert is now on his 3rd HC job in a year, and a guy like Lane Kiffin seems like he's at another school annually, and left Tenn in the middle of the night to go to USC(which canned him before the season was over as well). I have no problem with committed kids visiting other schools, matter of fact I believe Tressel and Meyer almost encourage visiting other places so that they know OSU is where they want to be. It's unrealistic for any fan to expect a kid to commit and never visit another school, especially OOS kids. I'm also sure that with spots being so tight in this class, a kid would commit to keep his spot
Some kids make a high-profile commitment and then immediately begin flirting with other schools because they like the drama of it all, especially the drama of leaving your bride at the altar.

Matthew Baldwin? He was committed to a non-Power5 school because he had no better options at the time. Then he blew up late in his senior season and started getting big-time offers. It's pretty easy to see why he flipped.

Tate Martell? He committed to a couple of schools before settling on Ohio State a full seven months before enrolling. Maybe there was some drama early on but Martell shut it down quickly.

Pete Werner? He quietly visited Ohio State in late November and flipped in early December, two months before Signing Day. I don't remember any drama concerning his flip, because there was none.

Jaiden Woodbey? Well, you can form your own impressions....

My point was, by the definition they were considered "placeholders" since they flipped to other schools.

And Martell was full of social media drama last year, his show on go90 showed as much.

There's drama in every flip, just not on the side of the school the kid flips to

I’m not going to argue with you about it. I deleted my post prior to your response to avoid this. You have your bent on it relative to coaches and that’s fine. I have my bent on it based on how long the process goes and what being committed means.
I hear you, and I'm not trying to argue. Just stating that commitment goes both ways. And its interesting that we hold teenagers more to a commitment than to grown men who make millions of dollars...

Losing Cox and then Woodbey would be like sitting down to the finest meal of your life and someone takes away all the wine. Still an incredible meal but not the same having water to wash it down.

Really hoping this guy sticks. He’s such a stud.
Wow, now that's an exaggeration! We still have the #1 class with or without both of them, Cox hurts because he was our only DE commit, but with Woodbey, we still have Proctor and Hooker as S commits, and Johnson can play S if needed, so not as big of a loss(if he indeed decommits).
We still have an amazing meal, the only thing taken away was a great dessert and maybe a nice after dinner cocktail, but OSU still has an amazing appetizer and meal

How is that an exaggeration? I still said it’s an incredible meal! Cox and Woodbey are elite. How many 5 stars do you get in each cycle. Equating them both to just the wine or the “cherry on top” seemed pretty appropriate.

My fault, I can see what you're saying. Agreed. I read it wrong and thought you said taking the entire meal away

Could literally care less about losing a DB... don't want to come to the school that produces more first rounders then anyone? That's fine we will just get someone else.

He's the kid that said he will start day 1 right? Well he won't start over Fuller and I don't see him starting over Pryor either. Maybe the youth and talent we have is working against us a bit? Who knows

If we sign him great and if not? Well we will turn his replacement into a first rounder. Also losing him isnt like losing anything at a great meal. Itd just be trading one brand of red wine for another brand of red wine (whoever we get that will be replacing him)
