Jadeveon Clowney (DE Carolina Panthers)

Clowney not answering calls from Spurrier, Saban

As Wednesday approaches, Jadeveon Clowney isn't feeling the squeeze. [Clowney] has said he might not sign until his birthday, which happens to fall on Valentine's Day. ... The pressure and hype surrounding Clowney's recruitment has been so intense he started monitoring phone calls and stopped taking them from members of the media. It has been reported that Clowney even allows phone calls from [Steve] Spurrier and [Nick] Saban to go to voicemail. Clowney might just be the highest profile high school athlete the Palmetto State has ever produced.

We still don?t know who the top-ranked player in the country will sign with, but we now know when it will go down.
Jadeveon Clowney?s high school head coach confirmed to Phil Kornblut of Palmetto Sports that the defensive end will make his decision public Feb. 14 at 10:15 a.m. ET. The press conference will, of course, be televised by ESPNU, and will take place at Clowney?s Rock Hill (S.C.) high school.
Before National Signing Day last Wednesday, it was believed Clowney had whittled his long list of schools down to two ? South Carolina and Alabama. Since then, however, Clowney?s interest in the Tide has faded and the decision is now believed to be down to the Gamecocks and Clemson.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Clowney is not expected to take any additional visits, official or otherwise.
Clowney is the No. 1 player in the country according to every major recruiting service.

Free Rivals - Clowney drama comes to close on Monday

Now a senior, Clowney is perhaps the most coveted high school player in recent memory. At 10:15 a.m. Monday inside the South Pointe auditorium, the bigger-than-life, 6-foot-6, 247-pound Clowney will end his intense, exhausting and closely watched recruitment by signing with Alabama, Clemson or South Carolina.

for the life of me, I can't understand why the best recruits, who could have their pick of any school in the nation, would even have places like South Carolina and Clemson on their list.

Both USCe, and Clemson are home town schools, Clemson also has a great history of putting D-linemen in the NFL.

the consensus leader is South Carolina and i hope that is who he picks...but if he wants to pull out a Ohio State hat without visiting here that is cool also

I could never root for Spurrier in anything with the way he seemingly trashes OSU every chance he gets. Alabama is already so good and has so much talent. I guess I'll be hoping for Clemson by default.

Two girls I'm friends with from HS go to Clemson. I've made 2 trips down their and I can tell you this much: If you think the girls at Miami (OH) are hot, you haven't seen nuttin'. Clemson's campus is unreal and the women are hotter than anywhere I've seen, which includes Arizona State. I hope he picks Clemson also.
