The stats that always stuck out about him was his number of Tour Wins... but look at the 2nd and 3rd place finishes. Just goes to show you that he was always in a position to win.

Second Place or Ties:
58

Third Place or Ties:
36
what i thought was the most impressive is 18 majors, & 19 second place finishes in majors!

Jack Nicklaus to Dot the "I" at Minnesota game

Nicklaus to "dot the i" at OSU

Golden Bear will perform tradition at Buckeyes homecoming football game

Golf World September 15, 2006

He has his own museum on campus and is in the school's athletics Hall of Fame. Come Oct. 28, however, Jack Nicklaus will receive one of the more unique honors his former school, Ohio State, can bestow when he will "dot the I" as the OSU Marching Band performs its signature "Script Ohio" formation during the Buckeyes' homecoming football game against Minnesota at Ohio Stadium.

The honor traditionally goes to fourth-year sousaphone players, with the short list of non-band members dotting the I including Woody Hayes and Bob Hope.

Wow! What an honor; and justly deserved. Only the third non-band member ever. Ya know, they hang banners in the Shoe for people deserving special recognition. But only those deserving extra special recognition ever get to dot the i. Someday, Archie will get his turn--he will be next, but not quite yet. For that honor, he's still a young pup.

Washington State's Band director dotted the I in 2003. Of course that was a quadruple script Ohio during alumni band day. There were a few more chances that day than normal to dot the I:biggrin:

But Washington State's band director was a TBDBITL alum who dotted the i once when in college, so that doesn't count as anything special IMHO.
