Do you consider chili a "soup"?

Ah, student days.

One spring my roomie and I ate nothing but Saxon corn meal mush for breakfast, lunch and supper for two weeks to raise funds for a party at Buckeye Lake with Ray Charles and his band. The Rayettes alone were worth the price of admission.
Ray Charles once asked me to find him a bucket he could pee in.

My understanding of chili contests is that it must be without beans or veggies, that it is essentially beef in spices cooked down until, like pulled pork, it simply falls apart.

ICS rules Beans & Pasta are forbidden
CASI rules "Fillers" (Beans, pasta, rice etc) are forbidden

Neither group specifically bans vegetables

Occasionally, I'll swing by Fresh Market in Oakley or Whole Foods in Rookwood and pick up "Chili Starter"
It's essentially all of the veggies and beans in a broth seasoned to your liking. It's never let me down if I needed to fix chili quickly and didn't have time to break out the slow cooker.

That's the only store bought variation of chili I've had.
