iPhone/iPad App Recommendations & Reviews

MLB.com At Bat 2010 has just dropped in price from $14.99 to $6.99. Listen live to any MLB radio broadcast, gametracker, and live video if you also hold an MLB.TV subscription. I've been waiting for the price drop, and just picked it up to follow the Reds down the stretch and hopefull well into October.
You also get a random video feed for free every once in a while.

Anyone have shazam pro?? How is it?

I'm trying to decide between Shazam Pro and the premium Sound Hound. The free version of Sound Hound is better than the free Shazam, IMO. Quicker and cooler features, including humming and singing lyrics to identify a song.

Some more new/updated apps of note:

  • AppShopper - there's now a companion app for the website, which is one of my go-to places for making app purchasing decisions. There's a lot of information and functionality here that the App Store does not offer. You can search for the newest apps, the most recently updated, and apps that have gone on sale. The most important feature of the site & app though is the Wish List. If you create a profile, you can add apps to your Wish List and receive email notifications of price drops. It's great for catching an app at the right price. They also have a Twitter feed with frequent updates.
  • Super Mega Worm - this is a new game that I recently caught on sale thanks to AppShopper. It's fun once you get the hang of the controls. It's an 8-bit sidescroller, and the basic premise of the game is that the Earth has unleashed a giant worm (your character) to exact revenge on the human race for destroying the environment. Regardless of your views of environmentalism, controlling a giant worm that eats people, cattle, blows up planes and cop cars and spits fire is pretty satisfying.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat, but I've had some bad results with Sound Hound, never with Shazam. So I'm kind of torn.

Bought SoundHound and I really like it. It's rated higher than Shazam Pro.

Can't put down Fruit Ninja at the moment.

Trainyard is my new addiction.

This game was developed by an individual (not a game studio) who is now filthy stinking rich. It's sharp, simple (yet full-featured) and addictive as hell. The game apparently overtook Angry Birds for a short time as the top-grossing app.

The game itself comes in a full version (sale: $0.99, reg: $1.99) and a lite version (Trainyard Express)

Looks like a good one. For those wondering, he hasn't ported it to Android.

Am I the only one missing the fascination with Angry Birds? There have been a number of flash games online just like it, and I'd argue a few were more enjoyable.
