Game Thread Iowa at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 5, 3:30pm ET, CBS

The teams under Day struggle with being patient, it’s been an issue in previous years, too. They have been moving the ball pretty much at will, but not with chunk plays. They just can’t seem to stick with what’s working without eventually trying to force things and get off schedule with an incompletion or turn it over with an unnecessary risk. It!s what UM has been so fucking good at the last couple years (well, that and the cheating)…..they know if they can get 3 or 4 yards almost every play, they’ll stay on the field and if they don’t, they’ll punt it back and make the other team exécute on a 14 play drive to score knowing that the other team won’t be able to.
Yes. Thank you Fungo for explaining what I mean.

Couldn’t agree more.

Oh same… but for guys with egos like Chip and Ryan? You know they want that play action TD based off the run game.

Definitely. Teams always take on their coaches personalities, in just about every sport I'd say.

One half (quarter really) against a school that consistently puts one of the best defenses in the country onto the field, and I'm not ready to abandon Howard. I've also been around long enough to know our fans do this to every QB we've ever had. They did it to CJ. They did it to Fields...and Haskins...and Cardale...and JT...and Pryor...and Troy Smith. Back in the day, I'm sure they did it to Tom Matte and Rex Kern.

I'm more upset and concerned that Chip is not putting Howard into a position to succeed and expecting him to make Patrick Mahomes throws into a 6 DB zone.

Hey @BB73, How'd they treat Chick Harley back in the day?

Defense doing great. Styles had a good first half. Just need to create some turnovers in the 2nd half. Offense is moving the ball but shooting itself in the foot with the turnovers. OL has shown that it is physical and opening holes. Hoping they come out and get a quick score.

I don't remember fans doing this to Fields or Pryor or Smith, but definitely to all the others you named. Even Krenzel was dismissed as a placeholder - people said McMullen was better, and maybe Zwick would be starting by mid-season in 2002.
