They haven’t stopped our run yet, which is why I don’t get that last couple series from Chip.

It's almost like they expected Iowa's defense to be better against the run game and had this whole passing package ready to go....

Yeah I don't get it either - I hate it when coaches convince themselves they are ahead of some "curve" and then stop using what is working.

Will just isn’t great when his first read isn’t open. Sometimes he panics and forces a bad pass, other times he panics and goes to the outlet receiver right away. He seems anxious to get the ball out of his hands quickly whether or not it’s the right decision.

Check down Charlie. Throw them open.

Not even close. Just not making plays an leaving a lot of room for Iowa. Howard needs to be throwing with more anticipation on those.

Making this way too close. Outgaining them 2-1 and it's a one possession game. The offense has been good, but turning it over and aren't going to win this passing the ball.

Opening drive of the 2nd half is huge. If they can score its a big momentum shift. No and it starts looking like a very tight game.

The run game is boring let’s be honest.

But that’s what’s open.

Our run game is anything but boring this year. 6 to 8 yards per carry and the ability to always house it, we should have at least ran a couple times at the end there with plenty of time to stop the clock.

Howard is fine people, geesh. Sometimes a good Defense takes some things away. Iowa always has a better than good Defense. Chill out. He's been great and is going to be fine just have to mix it up.

I’m sorry that you can’t see it. This team can’t get to where it wants to go with a QB who can’t get the ball downfield against defenses with a pulse. ScUM’s defense will eat him alive.

One half (quarter really) against a school that consistently puts one of the best defenses in the country onto the field, and I'm not ready to abandon Howard. I've also been around long enough to know our fans do this to every QB we've ever had. They did it to CJ. They did it to Fields...and Haskins...and Cardale...and JT...and Pryor...and Troy Smith. Back in the day, I'm sure they did it to Tom Matte and Rex Kern.

I'm more upset and concerned that Chip is not putting Howard into a position to succeed and expecting him to make Patrick Mahomes throws into a 6 DB zone.

The teams under Day struggle with being patient, it’s been an issue in previous years, too. They have been moving the ball pretty much at will, but not with chunk plays. They just can’t seem to stick with what’s working without eventually trying to force things and get off schedule with an incompletion or turn it over with an unnecessary risk. It!s what UM has been so fucking good at the last couple years (well, that and the cheating)…..they know if they can get 3 or 4 yards almost every play, they’ll stay on the field and if they don’t, they’ll punt it back and make the other team exécute on a 14 play drive to score knowing that the other team won’t be able to.

Maybe you’re just trying to see one bad quarter as an indictment of who Will Howard is as a QB. Iowa has a good defense. We didn’t play a good first half but guess what? We are up 7-0 in spite of that and half time will bring adjustments. Since when did people become so chicken little based off of one quarter?

I agree Howard is fine. That was 1 on 1 and the WR undercut the ball.

But my point with the run game is that doesn’t excite the offensive coordinator’s.

I agree it should but it’s the set up off the run that gets these guys excited.

Sometimes you have to run the ball 40 times in a row and sometimes you need to go tempo.

Good thing is the defense is doing it's job and they're running better than I thought they would. Just need to defense to get a couple TOs and end a few drives faster.
