Game Thread Iowa at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 5, 3:30pm ET, CBS

Until Sonny can process info faster teams are going to run at him. If he can come down hill faster and you have Downs covering up right behind him, they shouldn't get a 1st down.
This is one of the teams where I genuinely wonder what would happen if we played cover 1 with 8 in the box all game. Would we be able to hold them to under 50 yards rushing? Would the coverage hold up?

I think the answer is yes on both but I’ve never once seen a defense throw caution to the wind like that other than Va Tech in 2014.

100%. A Bear front with our quality of DB's and nowhere to run in the box would decimate Iowa into at least 1 quarter of negative total yardage. The 2002 season when we played #23 Minnesota and held them to negative yardage the second half, was the best half of Defense I've ever watched at least that I can remember. They ended with 112 total yards that game and I think that this Defense could bring that kind of pain to Iowa on Saturday.

And here we go with the jilted Ohio kid angle....

Nobody tell him.......but you're not a jilted kid if you can't shut up about how you wouldn't have chosen Ohio State even if they had offered (lie). You're supposed to sound hungry to right a wrong.....not petulant and whiney.

What I wouldn’t give to see us run the bear front. Seriously Hamilton at nose flanked by McDonald and Williams? Screw an extra LB out there. Put another DL in there and own the LOS. Don’t even let them get past the LOS.

I'm guessing that answer was a joke, but you never know. But I don't think it was taken as a joke.

So I looked it up. They have alternated home/away (not playing many of the years, due to being in separate divisions), since 1984-1985, when they played both games in Iowa.

Ohio State and Iowa are 1st and 2nd in the league in rushing offense (YPC).
They are 1st and 3rd in the league in rushing defense (YPC).

The talking heads will, of course, make much of that over the next few days.

They are 1st and 12th in the league in total offense (YPP).
They are 1st and 8th in the league in total defense (YPP).

The talking heads will, of course, pretend they don't know that over the next few days.
DBB: did you have any issues with Peacock? It was smooth for me, save for a couple of short buffering issues. I'm talking maybe 2 times for 1-2 seconds.
