Investigation Results (Merged)

Is there any benefit to OSU to quickly affirm that they recognize and assent to all particulars in the NCAA report? An if its done, let it be done quickly posture? For instance, might it take the suspense of any added punishment of the table well before basketball gets into gear, perhaps even before football season?

If it were not for the basketball revelations over the weekend I'd be pushing for a quick response by Ohio State -- should it benefit the institution.

NONE of MoC's allegations are proven true

The NCAA has cleared the football program of all ESPiN allegations. I can't help but wonder what Trev/Mark will say about any of this. I am relieved to finally be able to say: Tom Friend may officially rot in hell.

From BN:http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/379407.html

The Troy Smith allegation is the only one where the NCAA found proof. Gene Smith said the NCAA investigated a number of claims made by Maurice Clarett and others.

Smith will serve the second of a two-game suspension for the 2005 season opener against Miami (Ohio). Otherwise, the football program – after months of bad publicity – seems to be free and clear.

“There was a thorough investigation by the NCAA and our staff,” Gene Smith said. “What you see before you is what you see in football.”

I am so happy to hear this. I caught alot of flack for bringing up some shit last year and I can't tell you how relieved I am that the only thing found was the Troy Smith thing (which wound up being some of what I was told about before it was ever reported)

This is wonderful news...Mo and ESPN can eat a giant shit sandwich and can die for all I care.

wow...i get home and am flipping through the channels...stop on espn because they are doing some kind of top 10 thing which looks mildly interested....then out of the corner of my eye, on the ticker, i see "ncaa finds osu guilty of 9 violations".

i quickly jumped up and ran to my computer to get on this website....and thankfully my fears have been averted. when i saw the ticker, it made it seem like troy smith and 8 other guys were all guilty of some terrible violation...images of hawk and carpenter injecting each other in the butt with steroids, and holmes and ginn doing ecstacy came to mind...thank god this is nothing.

as the site was loading up, i kept thinking that the front page would be bombarded with "tressel should be fired!" and "entire starting lineup ineligible for texas game!" threads.....

i am relieved beyond belief

god i cannot WAIT for the texas game to get year....vince young is going to be going home in a BODY BAG

Coaches Reactions

Regarding the football program, the letter of allegations is somewhat of a vindication in that no other allegations beyond the Troy Smith situation were found.

“Jim (Tressel) knows (about the report) and he is relieved,” Gene Smith said.

Tressel issued the following statement:

"I am pleased there were no new football allegations in the letter received today from the NCAA, but that will not change our passion to continue to educate our coaches, student-athletes and boosters in the area of compliance. We know compliance is job one and we take it very seriously.

"We have always believed in our intentions and we understand the importance of representing Ohio State at the very highest level in terms of integrity. We appreciate, too, the tremendous job that our compliance office has done in educating, and being a resource for, our student-athletes."

Likewise, Smith said he will “battle hard” for the future of the men’s basketball program.

“The institution applied its own postseason ban, and I thought that was a great strategy,” Smith said. “We need to do everything to battle and protect the future of that program. That’s these kids, their future opportunities, these scholarships. That will be our mantra going into the NCAA infractions.”

Men’s basketball coach Thad Matta issued a statement on the NCAA report.

“The future of Ohio State basketball is bright,” Matta said. “We were made aware of the situation that has occurred today, and we look forward to a final ruling regarding this matter so we can put it behind us.

“As all of you know, in December we gave the program a self-imposed ban from postseason play. Was this ban a severe penalty? All you had to do was look into the eyes of (seniors) Brandon (Fuss-Cheatham), Tony (Stockman) and Matt (Marinchick) in the locker room after the Illinois game to know how severe a postseason ban can be, especially for this team and this season.

“Those of you who follow Ohio State basketball know that none of the current players or coaching staff were involved with the program at the time of these infractions. After spending a year at Ohio State, with the successes we have had and continue to have, I am thrilled in the direction our program is heading.”
So say we all.

3) There were additional accusations against the men's basketball team that came to light this weekend, and OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith says OSU made the NCAA aware of these yesterday. Therefore, the NCAA was unable to include this as a part of their letter today.

Mike Sierawski stated in his deposition that he gave Boban the $500 to reimburse the Roslovics as ordered by the NCAA. Sierawski also claims that in 5 1/2 hours of questioning by the NCAA, they never asked about payments made to Alex Radojevic, but I would be willing to bet that NCAA transcripts will prove that Sierawski was asked about any involvement he had in providing any benfits to any OSU player on his own initiative or as requested by the OSU coaching staff. This is getting interesting. I am betting that he perjured himself in the deposition.

Why the hate for ESPN? If some people would keep their hand out to the cookie jar in the first place, they wouldn't report anything. It's not hard to keep your athletic program out of the news for a few days.
Not taking the bait.

We have a fan from the only school with a convicted felon on its roster throwing stones at another program. Typical Cryami piece of shit.
