Weak. Pathetic. Inexcusable.

Chris fucking Perez should buy Westbrook dinner on his way out.

No excuses for a professional ballplayer earning that kind of money to perform like that. NONE.

Long summer coming up.

Fellow Indians' fans: In the interest of saving time typing or looking to quote the above, please be advised I am condensing the above to simply "#383". It will be said often this year, only substituting today's loser (hopefully not Perez every time). So, from here on out, look for me to simply post "#383" where applicable, ie every fucking game.

That is all

#439- Hafner

I was at the game following the announcement of Hafner's 4 year/$57 million deal. Garko got a game-winning single in the 9th after Joe Blow blew the save...:shake:

Seemed like a good day for the organization. Keeping a big hitter from leaving. Fans gave him a standing ovation on his first at-bat.

Screw that day now.

I think we have a new number designation to add to the vernacular...a "#439" for Travis Hafner

Can someone please put together a key for post number-player referenced? I don't want to get confused. I have had so much extra free time since I gave up watching Indians games around 2 years ago. Someone PM me when they are good again and I'll start tuning in. At least we have the Cavs.

Our Indians key...12 games in.

Cleveland Indians option Michael Brantley to Class AAA Columbus; prepare to activate Russell Branyan | cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Even a torrid start might not have saved outfielder Michael Brantley from what happened Monday.

When Brantley opened 5-for-32, it became a fait accompli.

The Indians optioned Brantley to Class AAA Columbus and plan to activate first baseman Russell Branyan Tuesday. Branyan would join the Indians in time for the series opener against the Twins in Minneapolis.

"This doesn't affect our outlook on Michael Brantley at all," Indians assistant general manager Chris Antonetti said. "We feel very strongly about his future as a major-league player. This was about creating a spot for Russell Branyan and looking at what combination of players is best."

Branyan, who has been on the disabled list since April 3 because of a herniated disk in his back, played first base for the Class AA Akron Aeros on Monday night as part of his rehab assignment. It was his second straight day at first base for the Aeros.

The Indians had said they wanted to see Branyan play consecutive days in the field before deciding whether to activate him. Branyan told reporters in the Indians clubhouse Saturday that he was ready.

Branyan, a seventh-round pick by Cleveland in 1994, signed a one-year, $2 million contract in February. He missed the majority of spring training when the back flared up. His rehab assignment has included a brief stint with Class AAA Columbus.

Branyan will be a starter, meaning Matt LaPorta gets bumped from first. LaPorta moves to left field, where he likely will split time with Austin Kearns until he proves healthy enough to play there every day.

LaPorta played strictly first base in spring training and into the regular season because Branyan was injured and because LaPorta continues to recover from off-season surgeries on the left hip and left big toe.

Last year, LaPorta appeared in 39 games in the outfield -- 29 left, 10 right -- and 10 at first.

Brantley, 22, was the player to be named in the CC Sabathia trade from July 7, 2008. The headliner coming to Cleveland in the deal was LaPorta. Brantley's first year in the organization was 2009. He batted .267 with 46 steals in 116 games for Columbus before being promoted to Cleveland on Sept. 1. He made his major-league debut that night in Detroit.

The son of former major leaguer Mickey Brantley batted .313 in 28 games with the Tribe and looked smooth doing it. He was confident but not cocky and impressed everybody with his baseball IQ.

The solid September had Tribe fans excited about Brantley's potential impact this year on a rebuilding club. The signing of Branyan, though, squeezed him. Only when Branyan shut it down did the door open for Brantley to break camp with the Tribe.

Brantley went 1-for-3 as the Opening Day left fielder in a 6-0 loss to the White Sox in Chicago. He had a hit in each of the three-game series, then slipped to 2-for-22 over six games. He has a .229 on-base percentage and .188 slugging percentage.

While Brantley has not been overmatched at the plate, he has failed to square balls consistently dating to the spring. The Indians think LaPorta, who debuted in the majors with the Tribe last May, is further along as a hitter.

LaPorta being right-handed with projected power helps his cause. The Indians need right-handed bats to complement Branyan, Travis Hafner, Grady Sizemore, Shin-Soo Choo and Luis Valbuena. Asdrubal Cabrera is a switch-hitter.

Branyan struggled with back problems the second half last year as a member of the Seattle Mariners. He did not play after Aug. 28 but managed to finish with a career-high 31 homers in 116 games.

Branyan had hoped he could parlay the power display, slowed by injury though it was, into the first multi-year guaranteed contract of his career. However, teams were hesitant to invest in a 34-year-old who had back issues and was hit-or-miss at the plate.

In 882 major-league games, Branyan has hit .224 with 164 homers and 946 strikeouts.

Branyan's first run with the Tribe lasted from his major-league debut in 1998 through 2002.

He's really been struggling, not surprising. If Branyan can approach what he did last year, he'll be a big help.

The problem is if Branyan is just as bad they won't pull the plug on him. It took, what, 12 games to send Brantley down? It will take 75 games of crappy at-bats from them to bench K-Bran.
