Indians Tidbits (2009 season)

 Andy Marte continues to show that "he can play" by committing an error with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out

Tigers already lead 4-0

Masterson getting knocked around again

100 losses isnt out of the question, this team is very capable of not winning more than 1 game the remaining games of the season

nice to see Michael Aubrey is hitting .312 for Baltimore

Shapiro traded him earlier in the year in favor of keeping Marte........

Shapiro has been ape raped in Trades this year, Lee trade is looking god awful, Vmart trade not much better

I just noticed

they have more losses than any current pitcher on the roster has strikeouts

91 losses, Carmona leads with 68 strikeouts

I wonder if something like this has this ever happened before

edit:

to answer my own question, this feat was also accomplished by the 120 loss 1962 Mets, who had 2 pitchers with 118 Ks

and the 119 loss Tigers of 2003, whos leading K man had 108

some great company to be in

I've been watching the Tribe since 1984 and this is unequivocally the worst team I've seen them field. They're gutless and just awful up and down. Thank God this year is almost over.

yesterday was the first game i've watched in weeks. it was painfully obvious that they've absolutely mailed it in and quit on wedge. on the bright side, peralta did snap an 0 for 26 streak with a lucky slap single. when even the young kids fighting to show themselves give up on you as a manager, you know it's over.

by the by, someone told me that eric wedge's house in Westlake was just sold about 2 weeks ago. hopefully a sign of things to come.

I don't know if you are talking about the same house but a couple weeks ago he sold his house that he was renting to Carl Willis to Willis so I don't know if the house sale is that good of an indicator.

There was some chatter on STO and they were talking about Tracy from Colorado. I don't know if he would be available or not but Manning that he would be a good fit for a young team.

I can't first recall the Indians where they played the Giants in the 1954 World Series so I have seen plenty of Indians team and this seasons has ranked up right with the worst and I have never seen an Indians team give up like this one has:!

Fire up the rumor mill...

If the Indians truly believe that Eric Wedge was a victim of the roster Mark Shapiro handed him - and has subsequently stripped him of - he'll continue on as manager. If not, speculation has already centered around Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell as a possible successor.

Boston Globe

That, I could get behind. The latter obviously, not the former. If the former happens, I quit.

it's also being rumored that Farrell isn't a candidate because he has some clause in his boston contract that restricts him from pursuing a managerial position until after the 2010 season.

I truly believe that Eric Wedge could [censored] up almost any roster

im guessing they let Wedge manage the 2010 season though and run out his contract, that seems like just enough time to let him fuck up some of the young players before someone who knows what they are doing gets in there

I continue to say I just don't see any way they let him stay on. The last two years, his teams have stumbled out of the gate and were eliminated from contention essentially by the AS break. That's on him. If they keep him, there is clearly no accountability in this organization and they are completely fucked. Next year is going to be a very young team and they'll need a manager that can handle youth. Wedge clearly cannot do that.
