The Indians claimed LHP R.J. Swindle on waivers Wednesday from Tampa Bay and optioned him to Columbus. The Brewers designated the 26-year-old for assignment Friday, and the Rays claimed him on waivers that same day. But Tampa designated him for assignment the next day. Swindle was originally drafted by Boston in 2004 and has pitched in the big leagues with the Phillies and Brewers, accumulating a 12.71 ERA in 111⁄3 innings.

Marte goes 0-3. Just cut him loose already. I'm sure he'll go to Seattle or Texas and become an all star, but it ain't happening in Cleveland.
Raffy Perez back to his sack-o-shit ways. Jess Todd has been pretty shaky. Not sure he's big league ready yet.

CLEVELAND -- While 5 p.m. ET might be the normal close of business for some, members of the Indians' front office were prepared to remain active late into the evening Monday, as the clock kept ticking toward the midnight ET deadline to sign selections from the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.
The Tribe's negotiations with the No. 15 overall selection Alex White remained at a standstill as of 5 p.m. The Indians were still hopeful that a deal could be worked out by the deadline.
"It wouldn't do me any good to say [how the negotiations are progressing]," amateur scouting director Brad Grant said. "We have about eight hours left. One way or another, we'll know by then."
Anybody know what he's asking or who's representing him?
The Indians signed 15th overall pick Alex White for $2.25MM, according to Jim Callis of Baseball America.
