That's a pretty good read, and he looks at things from the other side. About how it's kind of pointless to defend yourself to an extent because people are skeptical about you saying you never took roids due to the idiots who have lied.

Well, the only way he can disprove it is to have another great year with the bat. His sudden drop in productivity, coupled with his weight loss and prior association with those guys in Texas does raise red flags, fair or not.

Cleveland Indians reliever Mujica is on the bubble this spring

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- This winter right-hander Eddie Mujica was traded from one team in the Venezuelan winter league to another. Could it be a sign of things to come?

Mujica, 24, is out of options.

"This is my big chance right now to make the team," said Mujica before Thursday's practice. "I feel very confident in all my pitches."

Mujica has been in the Indians organization for seven years. He's spent parts of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons in the big leagues, but has never been able to stick.

Now the Indians must make a decision. They can keep Mujica in the big leagues, trade him or put him on waivers at the end of spring training.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Andy Marte Era in Cleveland might be over.
The Indians designated Marte for assignment today after acquiring right-hander Juan Salas from Tampa Bay for minor league infielder Isaias Valasquez. Salas will report to big-league camp and add another arm to the competition for the lone spot in manager Eric Wedge's bullpen.

Marte was supposed to be the right-handed power hitter that the Indians have been looking for since the departure of Manny Ramires when GM Mark Shapiro acquired him from Boston before the 2006 season. The Indians parted with outfielder Coco Crisp in the six-player deal.

Instead Marte, billed as a run-producing third baseman, never hit as expected.

DeRosa is going to be a HUGE help in the lineup...hopefully he can put up the same kind of numbers he did last year with the Cubs. Sowers looked lost like usual today. Season opener can't come any sooner

GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Infielder Andy Marte's strange trip from highly touted prospect has taken another odd twist -- leading him back to where he was a week ago.

Marte, placed on outright waivers by the Indians on Feb. 19, has cleared waivers and was outrighted by the Indians to Triple-A Columbus.
However, the 25-year-old third baseman will be back in the Indians' Major League camp Thursday as a non-roster invitee.

Marte spent all of the 2008 season with Cleveland, batting .221 in 80 games with three homers and 17 RBIs. He is a career .211 hitter, with nine homers and 52 RBIs in 174 games.
