Indians Tidbits (2008 season)

I know everyone knows how well the staff is pitching, but ESPN put up some stats from the last six games and they're pretty unbelievable.

43 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings
ERA of.19 in the last six games
37 K/10 BB
Five shutouts in eight games
Seven shutouts already in the season

Cleveland Indians' C.C. Sabathia shuts out A's as starters' scoreless streak reaches 43 innings

Plain Dealer Reporter
The Indians still aren't scoring a lot of runs, but it doesn't matter when their pitchers don't allow any.
C.C. Sabathia continued the parade of zeroes in the rain and wind Wednesday night at Progressive Field with a 2-0 victory over Oakland. Indians pitchers have thrown four shutouts in their past five games. The only time they didn't shut out the opposition in that stretch, Cliff Lee threw nine scoreless innings in the second game of Monday's doubleheader against Toronto in a 3-0, 10-inning loss.
"I've never seen anything like this," said Grady Sizemore, who gave Sabathia the only run he needed with the 14th leadoff homer of his career.

Cleveland Indians make pitch to hit against Cincinnati Reds

It's that time of year again. No, not snow in May.
However, if you are an American League pitcher, it is almost as cataclysmic. When the Indians open interleague play with three games at Cincinnati on Friday, the Tribe hurlers will have to take their National League cuts at the plate.
Those are the rules, so Indians pitchers were getting ready before Wednesday night's game against the Oakland Athletics at Progressive Field.

Cleveland Indians' Masa Kobayashi consider his first MLB save an accident

Thursday, May 15, 2008
Pitching coach Carl Willis told Masa Kobayashi at the end of the eighth inning Tuesday night against Oakland, "If we score three runs here, you'll go [back] out for the ninth."
Kobayashi nodded, but anyone who has watched the Indians' offense this season knew that statement was based on wishful thinking.
Still, when Ryan Garko hit a three-run, two-out homer to turn a 1-0 lead into a 4-0 lead in the eighth, Kobayashi pitched the ninth for his first save in the big leagues.

I guess JP likes hitting out of the #2 hole... just don't ask him to bunt:smash:

Marte has one hit today and is now hitting 120. They better get him out of the lineup before he falls below 100.

I saw that Hafner and JP both have stolen bases. Who is catching for the Royals the one armed man

Carroll is batting a little over 170. I wish Francisco or Gut could play an infield position.
