Indians Tidbits (2007 Season)

Nice to see the play by play guys here tonight are still making excuses for Joba in game 2. Waaaa.

It's been a long time since anyone could say that baseball announcers were objective... especially when it comes to the Red Sox, Yankees or Cubs.

On another note, doesn't it just seem that the Yankees keep getting the high strike call, whereas Westbrook struggled to get the low strike? I know Steibrenner was pissed at Froemming for not delaying Game 2, and in today's baseball where Selig cares only about the present, I wonder if a phone call was made. A Red Sox-Yankees ALCS always seems to garner the ratings that render his Viagra unnecessary.

Anyone else believe Wedge is making a mistake not pitching C.C. tonight?

Even if he isn't available to pitch in Game 1 of the ALCS, he'd still be around for Game 2 on Saturday, and would certainly be available to pitch either Game 5 or Game 6 as well.

You've gotta go with your best now. There's no way the Yanks would beat C.C. and Fausto in back-to-back games.

The other problem is that the Yanks own Paul Byrd. He's known for the leaving the ball up to be creamed, and that's what the Yanks will be waiting for. Mark it down. If Byrd starts tonite, it won't be pretty and we'll have to hope Sabathia pitches a (near) shutout in Game 5.

I'm with you. I would let him start and if he can give us five or six good innings our bullpen can't take it from there.

Hopefully our offense will counter Byrd if he pitches poorly. They beat up Wang in game 1 and now he isn't getting full rest. The Indian's pen is pretty well rested now. Joba ran out of gas last night so the Yankee's pen will be weak tonight. If the Tribe can chase Wang before the end of the sixth and be close I feel good.

That's the problem. Our offense should put up some runs tonite. But will 5 or 6 runs be enough with Byrd on the mound? I actually doubt it very seriously.

I hope he proves me wrong, but if Byrd lasts more than 4 innings tonite, I'll be absolutely stunned.

I think we will get 5 out of Byrd. I am not convinced this is a loss without playing the game. Byrd has not been terrible for this team, he had some rough outings, sure, but he does also have Playoff experience. I dunno, even if some how the Tribe does lose, I like our chances in Game 5 at home with C.C. on the mound with his normal rest against whoever they throw up there, probably Pettite.

everyone is expecting the Yankees to win tonight (Yankee's "O" is "back", Paul Byrd vs. NY, etc.) but I'm telling ya, the Indians win the ALDS tonight in Yankee Stadium!
I have that feeling, too...

Time is going backwards this afternoon... how much longer 'til the first pitch?

Wow, that's a lot of faith in a guy (Byrd) that got beaten like a red-headed stepchild the last time he faced the Yanks.

The Indians only chance in this game is if they tee off on Wang, and unfortunately, because this game is in NY, I don't see that happening.
