Indians Tidbits (2007 Season)

CLEVELAND (AP) - Fausto Carmona 's sinker dropped, it dipped, it dived, and it devastated the Minnesota Twins .
''It's not normal,'' Torii Hunter said of Carmona's go-to pitch. ''He's not even human. It was so scary, I thought I was hung over.''

''That dude is filthy,'' Hunter said. ''We've been struggling, but even if we had been playing good, we wouldn't have beaten him. If you've never played the game, listen to me, I'm a hitter. Right-handers have no chance unless they get lucky and get a hit on a broken bat.''

:banger:

Let me be the first to wish you Tribe fans much enjoyment whilst watching your boys beating the crap out of my beloved Reds this weekend. I have a feeling it will be an ugly 3 days for Reds fans.

I hope you were right but you guys are lucking out is that you don't have to face CC or Carmona. Maybe you will luck out and win one game. It always seems that the Tribe does not hit very well against pitchers that they have not seen before.

New SI says CC and Hafner will be testing the FA after this season, said that contract talks were halted when the season started and they are unlikely to take a discounted price

I guess that shows how much SI knows because CC will not become a free agent until after the 2008 season and Hafner does not want to talk contract until after the season.

both are signed through '08. Hafner specifically said that he didn't want contract talks to go on during the season, and CC has said that he will talk extension once it is seen what the FA pitching market brings this offseason.

The usual poor reporting by SI.

I think the writing is on the wall for Sowers at this point.....they don't have much of a decision to make considering how much he is struggling and the other guys in the rotation.

It sure would be nice if we knew how close Miller was to pitching in the majors. The one position that they are deep in is starting pitching at least to their farm system. Some of those guys probably will become relievers but as of now they have quite a few starters in the minors. If Miller was ready now and Schapiro had the guts, I would like to see a trade of Byrd, or even Westbrook, for a nice right-handed power hitter who is already signed for a couple years. I might even take a closer and just a good right-handed hitter.

I think Sowers will come around but he might have to be shipped back to Buffalo for the remainder of this season is something else does not pan out.

Yep, Sowers is going Saturday night as I set him for my fantasy league team (deep league). So if he can't get the Reds out he be cut in no time.

But like I said earlier unless Sowers turns it around quickly he will be sent back down when Westbrook is ready. As for Miller he IS ready. He is dominating AAA right now and it isn't close. Don't you just love having too much pitching? But he is still young and 2 years removed from arm surgery, so let him keep pitching in Buffalo where we can control his innings and development for another year.

But people talking about trading Byrd and Westbrook now is insane. There is no reason for it. When you are talking playoffs and World Series you don't want to bring up a rookie pitcher in Miller and trade away a steady veteran in Byrd and Westbrook.
