Indians Tidbits (2007 Season)

Nothing like a good old Cleveland fan meltdown.:roll1:

Blame the friggin' day off, killed the momentum.

I like our chances with Fausto going against Schilling, unless he has a bloody sock.

Everybody take a valium, drink a beer, it was a bad game. We still have 2 to go.

Wow. Way to jump off of the bandwagon motherfuckers. I'm not saying I know we are going to win, but what did you expect? These teams were tied for the best record in baseball. Neither team sucks. Get realistic. This could be a 7 game series, and Cleveland might lose, but you have to like their odds considering only Beckett has pitched a decent game against them. Gone are the days when Cleveland would be down 7-4 in the 8th and win the game 13-7. This is actually a more complete team. Be happy with what has been accomplished so far, realize that we are still up in the series and as long as we split, we win.

i was wrong in the Yankees series when I stated Paul Byrd would get dominated after Jake Westbrook got lit up in game 3

Truthfully, I have a bad feeling about Fausto on Sat night.....I just wish he threw more strikes, especially against a patient team like Boston......Fausto better sack up, and trust his stuff b/c if he picks around the plate he'll walk another 18 batters

I'd love nothing more that to beat Boston in this series.....growing up in Rhode Island, the self-importance of the Red Sox is sickening......not to mention the bandwagon fans

I remember going to Fenway in 94 (did see a sweet Rob Deere HR) before the strike and 97 during a Cleveland World Series run, both regular season games and both times the stands being substantially empty

In todays' media you'd be lead to believe they've sold out since 1917

Also, I do have to say, CC had a substantially smaller strike zone through 5 innings tonight....I can't figure out why an outside fastball for Beckett that barely hits the outside zone counts as a strike while fastballs that CC throws nearly miss the inside zone and are balls.....through 5 innings the strike zones weren't equal at all....and I don't give a shit if an umpire has a tight zone or lenient zone as long as its' consistent for both teams, which it was not tonight through 5 innings

I don't know if it would have much of a difference, although I do think Beckett would have gooten a called strike on Hafner that CC couldn't get on Ortiz before Manny's HR/Not HR/long single......

Anyways, good luck to the Tribe, I so badly want them in the World Series, but its going to be very difficult....Fenway will be rocking SAT/SUN nights

Everyone needs to chill with the Tribe. They'll be fine. Beckett is a Cy Young pitcher and we've seen what their other 3 starters are good for. No worries.

Manny, on the other hand, is a prick. Screw him.

Not to sound liek a dick but I just wanna make it clear I'm not JUMING bandwaggon.. I think the Bandwaggon is made up of Ohio'ans and thats bout it, whoever would want to jump on this franchises wagon is out of their fuckin mind. Their History, as well as CLEVELAND'S history is pretty disturbing to me and you know what? It's just a tad hard to look in the positive light here with this town and team with the way they either give away games or give away championships. It's hard to lose confidence in a team that I've never had any to begin with starting after the 97 series! Losing in 1995 as a kid and again in game SEVEN in the NINTH INNING as a 5th grader really hurt me as a sports fan, and while this playoff run has been nothing short of amazing I still can't get myself to feel comfortable when the Tribe take the field. Nothing against these guys, because overall this is a great indians ball club, but it's just because how many times have the Indians got close but haven't won? We had the perfect chance to end it and couldn't do it!! Who cares if it was beckett, who cares if they won just as many games, who cares if this Boston team is probably better than US! Championship teams put these type of games away and move on to the next round. Teams like NY, Boston, LA, ChiSox, and also the Detroit Tigers took care of business in these situations. I find it pretty Ironic that the Indians can't do the same with our #1 on the mound. The reason for this reaction from me is because to be honest I don't see us replicating this performance next year, or anytime in the near future. THIS IS IT FOR US, we had a shitty NY Pitching staff, and have Boston on the ropes. We needed to put them away at home, with our ace, with our crowd, and with our equally as talented team and we not only couldn't do it but looked overmatched in trying to do so.

I will watch both game 6 and game 7 (if it gets that far and I hope it doesn't), I will support the Indians year after year, but seeing them fail so many times in the 90's and early 2000's I am not getting my hopes up. Also IF (not WHEN because I just can't say that to myself anymore) the indians win and get to the series I do think we'll win it all because we'll be on much shorter rest, and will be far more battle tested.

just fyi...though I am pissed at the loss

my comments are sort of tongue-in-cheek/unjinx methods.

this team plays better when they're against the wall...the media started talking them up before game 5 and they came out flat.

plus beckett is a fuckin' stud in the playoffs.

There's a lot of negativity considering they've played as well or better than anyone would have predicted before the series started. Two bad games out of five so far. Beckett and no-one else has controlled the Indians. The Tribe has already proven they can win at Fenway. The remaining pitching matchups are favorable. Relax and enjoy the series.

Indians can't finish the job

Cleveland never made it back on top after trailing the Red Sox in the seventh.

CLEVELAND ? With Josh Beckett on top of his game, C.C. Sabathia needed to be nearly perfect Thursday night for the Cleveland Indians to oust the Boston Red Sox from the American League Championship Series.
He wasn't ... and they couldn't.

Not the end of the world Beckett sends Indians back to Boston but ending can still be happy
Published on Friday, Oct 19, 2007
CLEVELAND: One run, six hits, no midges.
So it went for the Indians on Thursday, a night when Boston Red Sox starter Josh Beckett was all he is cracked up to be.
The Indians had a chance to close out the American League Championship Series at home, in front of a crowd of 44,000.
Beckett made sure they didn't.

RED SOX STRIKE BACK Beckett dominates Tribe while Sabathia shaky again; tempers flare
By Sheldon Ocker Beacon Journal sportswriter
Published on Friday, Oct 19, 2007
CLEVELAND: Virtually all of Northeast Ohio's baseball fans were leaning on C.C. Sabathia Thursday night, and that's a lot of weight to carry, even for a big guy.
Whether that had anything to do with Sabathia's performance is subject to speculation, but one thing is certain: He did not lead the Indians into the World Series, as the Red Sox earned a 7-1 win at Jacobs Field to stay alive in the American League Championship Series.

Boston Red Sox defeat Cleveland Indians in Game 5 of ALCS

Friday, October 19, 2007Paul Hoynes
Plain Dealer Reporter
It's getting tighter now. It didn't have to be, but it is.
The Indians could have ended it Thursday night at Jacobs Field. All C.C. Sabathia had to do was pitch like it was the regular season. All the Indians hitters had to do was stay close to Josh Beckett and try to make something happen late.
