Game Thread Indiana at tOSU, Sat. Nov. 23, 12pm ET, FOX

In my woeful opinion, I would like to see some of our noon games move to 1pm. An extra hour of prep for our boys and fans would be perfect. It would still give plenty of time for evening activities after not football related if that's your thing. Also just to be different and have our own kick times ala Notre Dame but better, because, Buckeye.

I think it’s probably true that the second half in Bloomington on Saturday was revealing. The problem is, I can’t say that I have a high level of confidence in that statement.

I would love to believe that Ohio State’s second half against Nebraska was just an aberration. But what would I say to an Indiana fan who said that it was revealing? I might bring up better performances against better defenses, but Indiana could make the same argument for their performance against the cheaters being an aberration. They haven’t played great teams, but Nebraska is ranked 34 places higher than the skunk bears in scoring defense nationally and 6 spaces higher in the B1G, and the Hoosiers hung a 50-burger on them.

Which game was the aberration? Did either game show who Indiana really is? If someone has a reason to be sure, please share. My usual optimism seems to have deserted me; I’d love to get it back.

Nebraska in general was an aberration. Against Indiana they had 7 of 11 drives end on downs or a turnover. OSU was then 1 of 10 on 3rd downs the next week against them. Not sure either happens again in 50 tries.

The only thing I took away from Michigan v. Indiana is that even though they suck as a team, they're the most talented Indiana had played and it showed some limitations of their offense.

Corners better come to play next week that’s all I’m saying lol… we really have to get off the field when we can next week. I can understand IU converting 3rd and short but we have got to avoid the back breaking 3rd and 7+ conversions that NW was getting today.

As always it comes down to the trenches, turnovers, penalties and in this game the big plays.

We have got to limit the big plays, stop the run, play clean football, and avoid the big mistakes.

Bolded is the key. The blueprint is pretty clear on beating Ohio State. Get small chunks and don't let the defense get off the field to limit our possessions. Sometimes I would almost rather the big play to get our offense back on the field quicker (obviously would rather 3 and out them, but that is not happening often).

Interesting part of that is IU is kind of a big play machine from what I have seen, or at least a big chunk of yards team. It will be interesting to see if IU tries to dial it down to smaller chunks like other teams keep getting on us routinely to keep our offense off the field. We have to get to the QB and actually get him to the ground, or at least affect the throw regardless.

This will be a tough challenge even in the Shoe.

Ohio State Is An 11-Point Favorite Over Indiana

The Buckeyes are more than a touchdown favorite over Indiana ahead of the top-five showdown in Columbus next Saturday.

After Ohio State opened as a 9-point favorite over Indiana last week, the line has increased a bit as OSU is now favored by 11 points over the Hoosiers, according to consensus lines from the Action Network. After the spread grew from nine points on Nov. 3 to 11.5 points last Wednesday, it seems to have settled in at 11, at least for now.

Ohio State opens as 10.5-point favorites over Indiana

Betting Odds: Ohio State -10.5 | O/U 54.5 (per FanDuel Sportsbook)

Not disagreeing Bestbuck, but do you really want to throw off the entire Saturday football schedule? An hour here and hour there, means that the shows after the game will be interrupted, and the entire network lineup would be thrown into disarray. The big money boys can't sell commercial space with that happening, and the B10 network wouldn't get $1 billion for their TV rights. Or somesuch. Heard/read that it's the parting gift of that clown that was head of the B10 for a minute, that fumbled the TV negotiation rights pretty thoroughly. Did hear that Jbook, as a player, liked the early games as it allowed the players to go out and party....and also doesn't allow the sea of tailgaters to get too revved up prior to gametime. There's always a cause and effect of everything, and the networks really don't give a rip about the schools or players, only their bottom line. Out here on the Left Coast, am happy to have a 9:00 start (PST), so can sleep a bit, take a walk with the wife, and see the kick-off with a nice cup of coffee, if not bloody mary's. Go Bucks!

Never going to happen.

Everything fits in a 3.5 hour window give or take just like the NFL fits into 3 hour windows on Sundays. TV rules the time set up.

Like I keep pointing out, the economic reality of the situation dictates the tune everyone dances too. Jbook or whoever can whine all they want but it's reality.
