A series of early season games? These clowns have proven they can get up for an early game or a bowl game. It's the grind of a tough conference that would kill them. Unless you want to make them part of the conference and run the expense of playing way the hell out of town in 30K stadiums on your half of the home and home, I think it's better to leave them alone and count on the bowls to pit them against upper level teams from tough conferences.

Frankly I don't think anyone, SEC - Big 10, wants a piece of their action. A big name team would have to crush them, and heaven help anyone who got Appystated. Goliath seldom gets good press in these situations.

I agree with cinci. They are good enough to get up for one decent OOC game a year. Then, they coast through a series of cremepuffs. Ohio State's OOC schedule is way down this year, due to some stunning failures by our opponents this year. Boise State's is way up and it is about the same as Ohio State.

Nobody needs to prove anything by playing Boise State. They are the ones who need to get out and play people. The only way that will happen is if they take on more than one tough OOC game a year and play in a tougher conference. Until that happens, ignore them.

I think Nevada exposed a major weakness that a big team should exploit, though. Schedule them towards the end of the season after they've gotten used to only needing to play half of the game. If they're forced to play more than about a quarter and a half against a team with a pulse towards the end of the season without weeks to prepare, they can't handle it. They can get up for a bowl game, and they have 5 weeks to prepare. If they had to face an SEC/B10/B12 team in November, they would be toast.

Well, I wouldn't call it stunning that EMU and Marshall were two of the worst teams in the nation. Miami ends up as a top-40 team, could have been better but their recent history didn't suggest much. Ohio was a surprise early, but let us down late. Its about what I'd expect when scheduling 3 teams with little to no pulse.

I suppose I don't quite understand the lump-sum hatred of the mid-major teams on here. Does anyone care to articulate it?

I understand the anti-Boise State crowd. They talk a lot of shit, don't back up their claims on the anytime-anywhere scheduling moniker, play a 1-2 game season then sit back and watch.

I don't understand the anti-TCU crowd. The Rose Bowl is the organization that changed their contracts from congressional pressures (too much of an anti-trust issue I thought?). I mean, the Rose Bowl was already desecrated from the recent BCS history during their national title years: Texas-Michigan, Texas-USC, Miami-Nebraska. Not to mention that the Rose Bowl may/will be forced to take the Big East champion or Notre Dame the next time that the Big Ten or Pac-10 champs qualify for the National Title game.

I read you guys disregard/belittle their football programs because they bitch about the major programs and their place in major FBS football. I truly don't understand why you put so much into it though. Many of the mid-major programs play great football; games that are often more enjoyable to watch than the ACC, the Big East and many other lower-tier match-ups from the other conferences. I'm not saying that it always happens, in general their schedules are weak. But Boise State, TCU, Utah, BYU and a few others make for some intriguing Bowl Games and non-conference match-ups.

I know many of you have indicated that you don't/won't watch it but that doesn't matter because you seem to give them a lot of negative reviews regardless. I suppose my point is this: can you not enjoy the football they play without commenting on how dumb their merit/resume to the national title is?

On a STRICTLY football game basis, I would love for Ohio State to play Boise State or TCU on occasion during our non-conference match-up and I know it would improve our strength of schedule. I understand that football politics don't make much sense for the Buckeyes to schedule that, but still, it would be an intriguing match-up.

I can't speak for anyone else but with me its their fans. I also think a huge part of their nationwide fan bases just hate traditional powerhouse programs more than they actually like the individual teams. A couple other message boards I'm on I see the people jumping ship to the TCU bandwagon. I thought it was funny that Nevada beat BSU but I really wanted to see them get smashed in a BCS game just for a little humble pie.

Their biggest win was against a shitty Utah team and they don't have the history to make anyone think they're actually worth a shit.

That's what it boils down to.

Boise and TCU get praised for playing one or two ranked teams per year with a bunch of softies the rest of the way. Even when one of the ranked teams sucks, they get praised. BCS schools get hammered for the same thing, and they usually have a much harder week-to-week schedule.

I've never met a TCU fan, so I can't say anything about their fanbase. I don't hate their team because I don't find the team obnoxious like I do BSU. But I don't think they're the #3 team in the nation.

Do you think that, in a national sense, there is a merger between the pro-playoff movement and those that root for the mid-major BCS-crashers? If that is the case, then I can see the people jumping from Boise State to TCU.

Boise State fans are some of the rudest, vile, pieces of shit I've met. Yargh... But most TCU fans I have met are pretty easy-going. I think it stems from the TCU administration not doing as much national attention grabbing shit vs. Boise's president and AD often are doing/saying stupid arguments about the national title. Their fans pick up on it and vomit that information back out.

I always love those little guys getting some humble pie.
