Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

I mean, Day isn't going back to calling the plays I wouldn't think. Have to get an OC. If I'm correct OSU can only add one more assistant.
Just sayin': Ohio State can add all the assistants they want. The NCAA now allows an unlimited number of on-field assistant coaches for practices and games, removing the previous limit on "countable" coaches. However, the number of coaches who can recruit off-campus is still limited to the head coach and 10 assistants at the FBS level.

That sounds perfect for Chip. Just sit in your office and draw up plays. We'll bring the recruits to you.

Just sayin: It doesn't necessarily address the position coach vacancy; however, when I read this (article below), the first thing I thought of was...sounds like an offensive version of Matt Patricia...if Penn State doesn't hire him as head coach... maybe Day should consider talking to him about the Ohio State OC position.

Nick Saban urges Penn St. to hire Brian Daboll

Daboll is a long-time NFL mind. He's coached the Giants for the better part of the 2020s and before that was the offensive coordinator at Buffalo who first struck gold with a Josh Allen offense. He also worked under Bill Belichick in New England way back when and, just before joining Buffalo, spent a stint with Alabama and Nick Saban.

It's no wonder the Hall of Fame coach endorsed Daboll as a Nittany Lion when he first caught wind of the mutual interest. Here he was on the Pat McAfee Show discussing Daboll:

"He's a very good coach, he's a bright guy, he's a good recruiter, he relates well to the players, he's a good teacher, he's got a good offensive mind, he'll be able to put a good staff together," Saban listed off. "I think that would be an outstanding hire," the legendary coach added of a theoretical Brian Daboll fit at Penn State.
