Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

I'll withhold judgement here until I see the full staff and what their roles are.... but I have four thoughts:

1) Day wants an true veteran DC because he has no defensive experience. He wants someone who has been around the block, is proven, and knows the conference.

2) Larry Johnson either gets the DC spot or he declined it. I imagine that was one of Day's first moves to ask him.

3) Schaino is going to the NFL. He was always going to go to the NFL because they don't fall for the bullshit that happened at Tennessee.

4) Mattison will retire here. If Day gets 3 years our of him until he retires, grooming someone like a Freeman or a Washington to take over when he does, that could be the best of both worlds.

Do we think Mattison is a good coach? Because I've never been too impressed with their defense, I know they rank well but seem to get punked by any team with a pulse, plus the whole thing is just awkward.
And he's a DLine coach. I don't care about the age or where he's coming from.....until you factor in that we already have the best DLine coach in college.

What's the point?

Schiano can take the D-Coordinator position in Indianapolis after Eberflus goes to the Browns (fingers crossed).

On the Buckeyes...this pretty much has to lock up Bill Busch from LSU, right? Buckeye secondary needs a lot of attention. Not sure why the need to load up on D-Line guys (Al Washington being another DL/LB).
