Impending Assistant Coach Vacancies

Ugh that sucks. I was excited to see Grinch put his mark on the defense as sole DC. With the improvement WSU's defense showed under him, I thought they could have an elite defense that could shut down a lot of the attacks we struggled against this year.

Well like I said it depends on if Day is not enthused an letting him walk or is Schiano going to cost us Grinch then be out the door a few days/weeks/under a year. If it's the former it gets really interesting because Day can clearly Co-ordinate an offense to break a D so he could have his own ideas on what the D should look like which do not match those on staff.

However if Day decided to let them both go...
Lamb is clearly suggesting it's the latter with his "OSU hasn't been reactive to anything" comment.
if day is kicking both schiano and grinch to the curb, then it think it would be wise to do so only if you have a (really) good idea of whom you're going to get. that there might be "plenty of very good fish in the sea" isn't exactly an assumption that makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. despite last year's defensive woes, i'd take one year of continuity (minus davis) over gambling to form the best staff possible.

Day 3 and we have arrived at our first real "trust the coaches" moment

But what if Grinch and Schiano go and somehow Davis sticks on the staff. Oh the pandemonium..

EveryTING gonna be alright. If we lose the key coaching coponents of the 72nd ranked defense, so be it. Friends and family out, young fresh blood in. Grinch is an unknown, but he obviously wasn’t deemed irreplaceable. Give me Marcus Freeman, leader of 11th ranked defense and buckeye blood with Al Washington and whoever Day deems champioship material, I’m in. I bet along with Washington, Freeman would be rock star recruiters if that all some how comes to fruition. Won’t affect recruiting too much, 2019 there’s a few spots needed filled, and Day has a month to make it all work.

people were complaining two days ago about Grinich and DB recruiting and now they are pissing themselves in fear of him leaving today...lol...Ryan Day is elite...maybe, just maybe, he doesn't think Grinch is in his depth and is willing to let him go. if Grinch was telling everyone last year how his wife wanted to come back to Ohio and is ready to bolt after year one..?
honestly, I am not that enamored with Grinch OR Schiano. This defense blew a bag of dicks this year and I am in favor of blowing the whole thing up. For all we know the LB coach from scUM has been offered the promotion to DC.
