Illinois Fighting Illini (you'll see)

Shouldn't they be planting corn or soybeans or something?

Also, I swear to God that Illinois is the dullest fucking state to drive through. Every time we go to see the in-laws, it's a like a goddamn death march through that state. It's flat and mostly empty. Build some interesting shit you silly bastards.

I've never been through Illinois, but have you been through Alabama? :sick1:

They are on the pipe in Illinois, though. At least 'Bama appears to be a legit contender for the conference title. :p

I nominate Indiana. Indianapolis to Chicago is the most soul crushingly boring drive I have ever been on and I have been through Alabama (I have never been through Illinois when I was old enough to remember but I imagine it is quite similar to Indiana).

At least there are trees in Alabama. I spent my time driving from Indianapolis to Chicago trying to see how many high tension electric towers I could count before they disappeared over the horizon (it's in the twenties or thirties) and wondering if the massive corn fields would be the perfect place to dump a dead body. I also spent a large amount of time contemplating how long it would take me to commit suicide if I lived in one of the houses in the middle of the corn fields with literally nothing around them but corn for miles.

I was slightly more concerned about my car breaking down in Alabama due to the whole Deliverance thing, but like I said, at least they had trees to look at. While that may not seem like much, trees are extremely interesting when compared to Indiana (and probably Illinois).

I imagine that pretty much all of the plains states are amazingly dull to drive through as well, but I haven't been through them while old enough to appreciate it.

Kansas. Drove through at night. Drove through during the day. No difference.

Winner!! Not only flat, but no trees either.

BTW, it has been mathematically shown that Kansas is flatter than a pancake.

Link

How flat is Kansas, compared to a pancake? Fonstad, Pugatch, and Vogt explain that:
Mathematically, a value of 1.000 would indicate perfect, platonic flatness. The calculated flatness of the pancake transect is approximately 0.957, which is pretty flat, but far from perfectly flat.
After many hours of programming work, we were able to estimate that Kansas's flatness is approximately 0.9997. That degree of flatness might be described, mathematically, as "damn flat."
