...For those of you happy to play for the Rose Bowl, well I'm surprised that you are willing to accept that...

I can really see where you're coming from here.

Though OSU still has a chance to go 12-1 with a win over Michigan and a Rose Bowl victory; you're right, by any objective Buckeye's standard, that is an abject failure of a season. As Buckeyes it is our divine birth-right to be undefeated every year. That's why we're the only school that's allowed to award athletic scholarships. Either that or we've gotten really spoiled.

Like I said; I can really see where you're coming from.

Weep? Really?

So I should now give the slightest fraction of a damn what Stewie Mandel has to say?

No thanks.

10-1 going into Ann Arbor. Before the season started, I was expecting to be 8-3. So I'm not in the least bit disappointed. We are going to be a fantastic team next season.

Zook came in with a good gameplan and athletes galore. They just made more plays than we did.

Let's make Michigan our Bichigan and end the season right.

You know what's amazing? Our offense scored on two plays and 23 seconds. I just flipped on the game (to help the healing process, you have to stare your misery in the face), and a long bomb to Hartline and a Beanie TD run made it seem like we'd win by 70. Even Griese called Tressel the best OC/playcaller around/in college football. All downhill from there.

Can we ban this flamer, Kiki_Buckeye, already?

What is IDK, BFF, and rubies?

IDK why my BFF Kiki has all the rubies... j/k

Please explain...what's IDK, BFF, and rubies?

BTW to everyone else: Sux can be used perfectly fine since it is phonetic and the point is to communicate - obviously many of you do understand exactly what I mean.

On the other hand, I don't understand IDK, BFF, and rubies...

Gold Pants

There are so many stories the day after, this reminds me of a recent football game where the good guys fell and we cried for weeks because we got outplayed. Hey, that's life and once in a while the good guys take one on the chin. Life goes on and the Buckeyes will regroup in time for The Game. We are 10 and 1 with what was supposed to be a mediocre year. We have played exceptionally well and nearly made it through the year unblemished. We didn't, life goes on, we will recover, and we still don't give a damn about the whole state of Michigan.

I woke up Sunday looking for something to say; a way of rationalizing the loss. I don't have it because we simply got outplayed. We got "juiced" and there's no other way to describe it. Dancing on the Block O was disrespectful, but that will be what we remember when we play Illinois the next time. Too bad the seniors are stuck with that memory forever. We are stuck we it too as we watched to ugly display in the middle of the field. I would have been disappointed if we didn't react somehow to that. As the saying goes "Courtesy is due everyone, respect has to be earned" Well we were due that level of courtesy just as a guest who enters your house with muddy shoes on and wipes his feet in the middle of your Buckeye Room rather than removing the shoes at the door. As far as respect being earned, we haven't been given that respect all season long by the media but we have in most cases been respected by other opposing teams when that felt the rath of our offense and defense. It's a hard pill to swallow, because the respect on this day has to be given to an opponent that simply beat us.

These posts and all that is said is our way of healing. The fans have the easy part, the players have to put it all behind them tomorrow and prepare for the last game this season. Forget what was lost, the NC game, the #1 status, and all the hype. We play Michigan on Saturday, and I want to see a recharged team run onto their field and play the best game of the season. I want to see the Buckeyes play well and win, I want to see a team respect them for who they are and when we leave victorious, we wipe our shoes in the locker room and not on the center of their field. I want to see a classy team enter and leave regardless of the outcome. I want to see them earn the respect of the nation. They already have my respect for being the winners that they are so let's keep our "gold pants" on after the game, have a great week and forget yesterday's loss.

:oh:

i would be great with an 11-1 season, rose bowl and win over michigan..that being said realistically i think it is going to be a 10-2 season with an outback bowl bid....just think osu has too many unknowns with health and pending suspensions to call saturday a win

Several thoughts on the disappointing loss yesterday:

1. Illinois brought their A-game, and we clearly did not. Illinois is a very talented team, and Zooker showed me he can coach a bit. Not an embarrassing loss at all, though clearly (as I said) disappointing.

2. Our D was on its heels all afternoon, thanks to hesitancy caused by Juice Williams and the run-pass option offense that Illinois employs. Consequently, we were not able to generate any penetration whatever, and in fact we were usually lucky to be able to hold up the line of scrimmage. Great game plan by the Illini.

3. The tributes before the game and at halftime to fallen Buckeyes and all veterans were enough, for me, to make the day worthwhile. Very emotional. Thanks to all you veterans who read this post; your contributions to our freedom are invaluable, and a grateful nation (Buckeye Nation and the USA; pick both!) salutes you.

I agree with everything you are saying... in any normal year. This was a year after a NC debacle. This year was a bonafidechance at redemption on many levels. I don't buy into the idea that we were supposed to be a mediocre team and that we have, in reality, exceeded all our expectations.

I honestly thought we had a deserving team and we were #1 because we desrved to be there, not because of a fluke or by default (as the entire nation and some of you so-called Buckeye fans think). It is obvious from many of these posts, that a good many Buckeye fans also did not believe we belonged in the top spot and are now just grateful be where we are. I guess my expectations were higher. I never let the pre-season polls determine my season expectations - we have a good, strong team this year (deserving of the #1 spot and a berth in the NC) and we blew a fantastic opportunity.

That's my take.
