Wow. InsideIllini is on lock down.

So are the "Fighting" Illini still throwing a hissy fit over big bad tOSU "running up" the score on them and those evil tOSU defense guys who didn't let them score?

The late TD doesn't bother me at all. I attended a 38-0 shutout last week and saw my team go down another 2 spots in the polls.

These freakin' computers and their slant towards scoring points decide a lot of $$ come bowl time and the Buckeyes want a BCS bid of some kind. Throw in the pre-game trash talk and the 2007 Illini post game and you have your reasons for not taking a knee.

On to Indiana and a tough game.

Its more the human than the computers that fellate pretty wins but I agree overall.

Fuck Illinois and anyone else who can't protect themselves. Unfortunately, style points do matter.

The computers used in the BCS formula are not allowed to use margin of victory in determining their rankings. It's been that way for several years.

But your point has validity when it comes to the minds of the human voters.

I watched this game with the most annoying Buckeye "fan" ever. He kept yelling that they need to fire Tressel. FIRE TRESSEL!!!! This "running on every down is unacceptable!" "So conservative!" "The most boring game ever!" "Pryor is the most overrated quarterback in HISTORY! He'll NEVER make the pros!" We kept yelling back that we didn't NEED to pass and that it was pouring. And that Pryor is only a sophomore, and he's beating Juice Williams. Blah, blah. He didn't care. They need to fire Tressel anyway. He's too conservative. So when they threw it for a touchdown on the last play of the game, I said, "well, so much for being conservative!" He said, "we're ahead by so much that it doesn't matter!" :slappy:

Anyway, I LOVE the fire in the defense. And I personally loved the good ol' fashioned butt kicking via RB beast committee. Great win! Suck it, Zooker.

If it wouldn't have been our friend's father (you met Mark in Seattle), Manfred would have gone all Jew Jitsu on his ass. The second after the game ended, we both stood up and said, "gotta run!" We ran out of there so fast we broke Pryor's personal best. Because yesterday I learned that TP isn't very fast either. :p

Everyone is talking about running up the score. Two weeks earlier in a similar down and distance USC loaded the box and we were unable to pound it in. Is it possible this was giving future opponents film so they may not sell out completely to the run in that situation? That, combined with giving the offense a little more confidence that they can score from that position seems like two pretty good reasons for the play call with running up the score having nothing to do with either.

Not saying running up the score against the Illini is a bad thing. I still remember '07 vividly. I was in 4A that day. The fumble was right in front of me. I wish yesterday had been 70-0. But just maybe there were valid reasons that had nothing to do with trying to increase the final margin from 23 to 30.

:oh:

"I'm not offended because they made the decision to go get that touchdown," Illinois defensive end Clay Nurse said. "It lets me know that they've got the killer instinct. If we didn't want them to score the touchdown, we should have stopped them. Plain and simple."
Nurse was one of the few Illini players who bothered to show up yesterday. Props to him for his performance on the field, and for being a stand-up guy in the locker room. If a few more of the Cryin' Illini have his attitude, then maybe they won't tank their season after just three games. Don't bet on it, though....

So, missed seeing it live yesterday, ran the Akron Marathon...but, I watched it on DVR last night, and LOVED it.

I loved seeing us commit to the run. Non of this run it once, don't like the result, then roll out TP and make him throw it the next 5 times. Loved the game management, loved the effort by the O-Line, Boom and Zoom had it going on!

As far as the last minute TD, here's my thoughts: Its clear TP still is not confident throwing the ball, he's not looking comfortable when he drops back to throw, and his decision making/vision is still "maturing".
So, Tress decides to ram the ball down Illinois throat for 3 and 3/4 of the game, then when its all but over he lets TP get some confidence throwing, making decisions, running it...it can do wonders for a TRUE SOPHOMORE, like TP is. If TP can get confidence in situations like this, maybe he will be more comfortable in big game moments. We have to remember, he's a young guy that is still learning, and I like how Tress is trying to create positive situations for him to learn in. I honestly think that TD was more about Terrelle than anything else...although it was a nice perk to wipe the Illini off the floor :)

And the "D"...Oh my god. Fucking sick, Brian Rolle, Thad, loved Jermale Hines effort...I love this defensive unit!!!
My only concern is with Kurt Coleman...really noticed in this game that he puts his head down and just sells out for a hit, rather than making the tackle. Not to complain, because Kurt is a beast, but there were a few moments that he missed tackles because the helmet went down and he tried to blow someone up. That helmet to helmet hit was atrocious as well...again, love this kid, just want to see him be the leader that he can be for that defense! Feel free to tell me I'm crazy, its just something I've noticed...

Anyway, what a frickin great game!

On to a night game in Bloomington!!! O FUCKING H!!!!

This is going to be a year when the computers and polls will be very close between teams. 30-0 looks a lot better than 23-0. Some computers had the game at a 37 point spread.

Still, I think Ohio State fans might have been upset by that last touchdown, if the shoe were on the other foot. Going for two passing attempts with so little time on the clock was good practice for a team with some concerns in the red zone. But those two plays looked like more than play calls--they looked like they were chosen to send a message that was intentionally emasculating and disrespectful...

Is it also possible that they were intentionally putting some plays on film? Those last 2 plays were a new look as far as I could tell. If it was all about emasculation, I would have expected to see them pound it in on the ground. I'm not saying there was no message there, just seemed like more than that to me.

Running up the score, which OSU did NOT do yesterday, does nothing but help both teams...

It gives the offense of the winning team more reps and more rhythem and it shows the losing defense exactly where theyre holes are...
(thats better than waiting till our B10 teams get to the big bowls and have the holes exposed for them)

Its time for the rest of the B10 to wake up and start playing some big boy ball. IMHO

Just got back home from Columbus. Visited my sister and her family. We took the kids down to tailgate. The rain kept us in the parking garage but we had a good time. We were not able to actually watch the game in the stadium. With 3 kids 5 and under there was no way we would entertain them that long. So we soaked up the atmosphere around the stadium. Saw TBDBITL march in, which the kids loved! And Brutus was a hit! Someday my DH and I will get into a game, my sister did not get tickets again this year but when she does we are next in line. Listened to the start of the game on the radio as we drove back to her house where we watched the rest of the game and stayed dry. All in all it was an amazing experience. Below is an attached photo of myself, DH and the girls attempting a :oh::io:in the parking garage. The girls look more like "I's" but they gave it their best shot!
